Hi all,

how often do you have to replace the Air conditioning Filter??? also where is it located?

i noticed everytime after using the A/C i can smell some weird scent from the air vents. but it goes away after 5-10mins. is this normal?

I believe youa re correct onthe location. I think there is a door type flap you can open to remove and install the filter. I seem to remeber hearing it should be done anywhere between 15-30k miles depending on the auto manufacturer. Of course with my Gen 3 I dont ahve to wrry about it since there isnt one. I did not know the Gen4 's had one either. I dont even think my Sienna has one and it is an 02 XLE loaded.

You should also be able to find info on replacing and the location in your owners manual.

hmm... i have some little chunks of foamish stuff coming out of my vents. they are foamish because they like.... fall apart hella easily. and when you press on the little pieces, they are like marshmellows haha. what is this? its like you can dissolve it in water or something. ist there something i need to replace? ><

^ not sure. I think we have some similarity but not all (eg; our Grill is detachable, from what I heard. & also we have side blinkers on the fender).

I've checked the floor area (underneath the carpet) and couldnt find anything.

if its behind the glove box how do you pull out the glove box out??

i would say if you line in LAX, NYC, CHI, or any other major city, then you should change the cabin air filter/air conditioning filter every six months or every 10,000 miles at least.

If you live in a place with clean air and do a lot of hiway driving you can probably push it way past 15K though because the manufacturer's estimates are historically conservative. I don't understand the time part though.......what does one year or six months or whatever have to do with the air filter? Shouldn't it just be about mileage and about the conditions in which you drive?

just a thought...milage is easier for someone who doesnt have dates marked down for anything. Cos the car always keeps track of miles but a person doesnt always keep track of dates.

don't get me wrong, i agree with what you're saying, but a majority of car owners out there dont really know what to do with their cars besides drive it.
