Hi All, I plan to order a new 24 Corolla LE soon, I picked out my options and colors, etc. Just wondered what comments, complaints those of you that already have one care to share. I have been a Corolla person since 1990, having owned a 1980, 1982, 2000, and 2002 Corolla. After doing some reading I see that the LE has become the base model now (replacing the VE) and the SE is the more deluxe model. I don't need some of the fancy stuff that is on the SE so I will stick with the LE. One comment I saw was that the newer LE doesn't have a trunk light, just wondered if that was the case, the LE always had a trunk light in the past. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Wow, looks like the LE now has powered adjustments for the drivers’ seat, my ‘22 SE doesn’t have that.

Honestly doesn’t look like much of a difference between the SE and the LE besides the suspension ( independent vs beam axle, larger rims, stiffer springs/shocks). Probably many trim/appearance details that I am overlooking however.

Not sure why they left the trunk light out…

I have no complaints at this time with mine. I little over 1000 miles. I coming up on 6 months. I going to get it serviced soon. The Toyota app sucks. I don't use it.

I have the 22SE, CVT Sedan, the infotainment system on Android Auto is the worst you will come across, Apple car play, works well, the speakers suck, lane tracing on safety sense is dangerous, I heard its improved on the 23 model, of the line the 2.0 engine and trans can fly if using paddle shifting or sport mode, Mine rides well for having sports suspension and 18 inch tires, heater and AC is very poor, if you live in Southern CA don't buy a Corolla.

Gas Mileage is iffy, in town I get 17mpg, no matter what do, on the freeway with no AC on, the average is 34mpg at around 70 to 80, Mine does ride well, and can handle.

I have had and still have trans issues, and bad engine vibrations at idle, would I buy another, NO. I also heard the 23/24 have engine issues, I have one year on the lease, and after driving other brands, Kia, Nissan, Hyundai, Honda, it will be Kia/Hyundai for me again, never had problems Like I have right now. I base my comments, on being a Police Mechanic, and we no longer have Toyota's in the fleet, to expensive and to unreliable compared to the Nissan's and Hyundai/Kia we now have, and have had for 5 years.

If it was an $18,000 corlla new, its worth it, but at $27,000, not worth it, better cars out there.
I got rid of 2019 Kona bought it in 2020. Engine recall. I never had engine replaced, but Hyundai did oils consumption test it passed. They took it off the recall list. I could see maybe issues down the line. I did buy it used with like 3,000 miles on it. That means my warranty on engine would not go to 100,000 miles. It was to my advantage they took off of recall. I bought 2024 Corolla loving it. Great has mileage life time warranty power train. I been in groups on face book with people having Hyundai so many complaints.

They do have a trunk light (at least the 2023 model does, not sure why they would get rid of that). I think the Corolla LE (either ICE or Hybrid) is the best car for the money if you plan to keep it more than 3 years. The Hybrid system on the Corolla has been time tested and is essentially a Prius hybrid system + engine.

I have some small complaints but nothing bad enough to justify buying any other car in the price range. Most notably, some annoying interior rattles (Dash, rearview mirror plastic shroud around the safety sense camera, and the passenger seat back hinge or seat belt tensioner (not sure which one it is yet.)

The only one that seems fixable is the rearview mirror shroud (you can wedge some small folded up paper to stop the rattle). The rest are interior rattles that would be too big of a pain to diagnose and would probably end up causing more rattles taking everything apart.

But mechanically, electrically, tech-wise, absolutely zero issues. When you have Apple carplay or Android Auto connected, and are listening to music or the radio/sirius xm, the audio will get interrupted and stopped every time you open an app capable of playing media on your phone. Even if it doesn't actually play any sound. There hasn't been a fix for that yet to allow both audios to overlay and play over eachother or lower the volume on one and temporarily prioritize the volume on another. (Even a $30 walmart car stereo can do this.)

This car is my first car with Apple carplay, it took a while to get used to but It's so much more convenient when using navigation or answering calls. The Corolla has two microphones on the headliner above the driver and passenger seat so the sound of your voice is super clear to whoever you're talking to. I just wish Toyota makes a software update to fix the issue I previously mentioned.

I have the '21 SE, but my only real complaints are as follows:

my carplay is wired only, and the charging is slow. proper usb-c PD charging would have been a nice touch
I have the fully manual seat. Raising the seat tilts it forward, there is no way to lift the front of the seat base.
the stock door speakers suck, the tweeters are actually find paired with decent woofers for the doors, but a subwoofer added a lot.
No remote start without having the audio plus package (which doesn't change the cheap speakers out). had to get an aftermarket kit for that.

the center console is too shallow, I don't believe there is anything under it, there is no reason it couldn't go to the floor.
under very specific conditions, the vibration of the engine is noticable. it only occurs when the AC is off, the headlights are off, the engine is warm, and there are no significant electrical loads. this is pretty nitpicky and doesn't really bother me.

when it is extremely cold outside, the engine is so efficient it struggles to maintain temperature. heat isn't very strong and the fuel economy suffers. they should have come standard with active grille shutters to prevent this.
When it is extremely hot outside, AC is a bit weak. Some will say this is because of the new refrigerant, but in reality the new refrigerant is only a few percent less effective than R134A or R12. the real culprit in my opinion is that a more powerful AC system would have reduced fuel economy.

the stock wiper blades are refillable, but every dealership would rather sell you disposable wipers than refills for the only part that actually wears out in a year, the rubber itself. I have to order the refills online.

ground clearance on the SE is a bit low, I scrape on my in-law's driveway. I also wish the nice looking wheels were 17" instead of 18".225/40R18 tires don't have much sidewall to soak up potholes, after losing two tires to potholes, I switched to 205/55R16 on 16x7 wheels and it's much more resilient to potholes.

the fake shifts on the SE are harsher than the 4 speed automatic in my old truck, even though with 10 simulated gears, the ratios are closer. give me an option to disable fake shifting.

wind noise is stronger than my sequoia, but it's an economy car so no surprise.

since those are my complaints, I'll include things I like:
the engine: 40% thermal efficiency, leading to 32-40MPG depending on driving conditions. I've seen as much as 43MPG on the highway without hypermiling, keeping up with left lane traffic, between 70 and 80MPH. direct and port injection: efficiency and emissions of direct injection, but no carbon build-up issues on intake valves. Runs on normal pump gas.
the transmission: has a true first gear, allowing them to optimize the belt ratios for efficiency at cruise and rely on the true first gear for launching.
the back seat has more legroom in the sedan than you'd think, i'm 6'3 and perfectly comfortable in the back with the driver's seat in my position.

The Michelin wiper blades fit and are available at Costco on sale at least once a year, just toss the plastic part and use the rubber in your nice oem Toyota ones.

My 24 Corolla LE ICE comes with a trunk light but doesn't have electric seat adjustment. I'm the only one who drives it so not much need for frequent adjustment.
My only real complaints at this time is the lack of storage areas like cubby holes and road noise. Also heat in the dead of winter sucks compared to my previous cars.
This spring and summer I hope to do a bit of noise reduction but I'm not sure how much it will help.

They aren't refills ,they are complete wipers

Just measure length

They Also have a lookup

They aren't cheap ,but Worth every penny imo

I change mine every spring ,after winter has trashed them prior to heavy rain summers

By length is fine ,a and b have different curves

Amazon or ebay once you have your number

Once you run these ,you'll see why they are superior

I own a 2016 LE ECO but had i known what i know now back when i got it i would have gotten the Corolla S model.Apparently you cant get rim ring light kit on drum brakes because they are created to rivet onto your brake discs, also if you are looking for a little factory horsepower/torque the LE is lacking compared to the other base/models as it is instead factory tuned for fuel economy/mileage.Just a heads up.Other than that, they are outstanding daily vehicles.

I believe that the factory size tires and wheels on the 2023 Toyota Corolla SE is
need help?

Tire details example

Tire details example

Inside door jamb example

Swap out the 18 inch factory tires and wheels on the Corolla XSE for the 205 /55 R16 SL factory tire size 16”wheels on the Corolla SE for more rubber on tire and protection and better ride in comfort.

You have a choice of black or silver color wheels at:

Interesting thread. Our old, red, 2008 Corolla CE has almost 200,000 and running great....son-in-law has it and I, still, do all maintenance on her.

We've ordered a 2024 Corolla SE Hybrid AWD (with premium package) in celestite (light blue). Hoping to take delivery in late July or August. It'll be my wife's who is giving her 2017 Prius to our oldest daughter.

Concerning Toyota windshield wipers....it's MUCH cheaper to get just the rubber blade replacements from your dealer and swap it out. (They run around $12) I don't know about the newer Corolla, but the Prius has a very specific connection and aftermarkets don't really have a good adapter. So why pay up to $50 when you can just pay $12??

Personally, I think Toyota should have read "Wieners Laws of Aviation" - I edited a few for vehicles - And this is not just Toyota, but all manufacturers in general -

18. Exotic devices accessories create exotic problems.
19. Digital devices features tune out small errors while creating opportunities for large errors.
21. In aviation car manufacturing, there is no problem so great or so complex that it cannot be blamed on the pilot driver.

So true! I used to work with an older guy and, in his past life, was an Air Force aircraft mechanic on the B-52 bomber. He told me some horror stories of working on that old bird. He said they, once, had to replace a small hydraulic pump that had failed. Sounds simple BUT he swore it was like the entire air frame was built AROUND that sucker and they kept taking apart item after item just to be able to get in there to replace it!

I've been working on cars for 20+ years and the amount of plastics making its way into the engine compartment is getting out-of-hand, even with Toyota. Some manufacturers are even going with plastic upper control arms! Can you imagine?? One good pot hole and you know that's going to break right in half!

"Hey, you can save $1 by replacing that control arm with plastic and since we built 250,000 vehicles a year that's a savings of $250,000!!"

That's why bean counters should have NO input on car designs....you stay over there in your lane, pal!!

These days, most entry level cars are throw away cars. Not designed for longevity like before. In today’s market, I’d hold onto the vehicles you already own. If need to buy a vehicle, buy used from private party or dealer. Interest rates are not favorable.
