Anyone bought a 2015 Camry yet?

I checked out an XLE this weekend and was disappointed. I thought Toyota said they were going to have a more soft touch interior instead of all the cheap, hard plastic. The only soft touch addition I saw - and it wasn't really "soft", just not as hard as the rest of the cheap plastic, was above the armrests. It was a disappointment. Each of the XLEs I saw also had Bridgestone Turanzas instead of Michelin - i.e., they even cheapened the tires. I had waited for the new camry, but have written it off.

I understand how Toyota has made such huge profits. The camry has a very reliable drivetrain - proven solid. The 6 cyl is truly buttery smooth. With that said, the 6 cyl with 6 speed auto has been used since 2007 - thus little spent on R&D / drivetrain innovation that has shown up in the car. While other manufacturers have gone with direct inject, turbos, variable cylinder management, etc and offering a variety of transmission (manual, cvt or auto) if you want a camry you will either get a 4 cyl or 6 cyl and take the 6 speed auto. Noting, of course, that it's outdated, but very reliable.

They also don't seem to have kept up with technology. While other manufacturers offer turn signals on the mirrors, LED tail lights, rain sensing wipers, elevating passenger seats, etc, etc, etc, Toyota has opted to go the cheap route and not offer those. In their defense, it works and it's profitable! The market for cheap and reliable is obviously a strong and successful one for Toyota. Perhaps in 2 years when they have the next generation of camry they will make a better effort at keeping up with technology being offered by its rivals. Who knows, they may even stop using cheap, hard plastic throughout the interior and start using some genuine soft (not "not as hard" soft) materials.

I understand your disappointment in Toyota but understand why. Remember what toyota sell- quality, reliability and durability. As you said the v6 is buttery smooth, proven since 2004 when it first was released that it is reliable and a strong drivetrain. That is why toyota is keeping it. They spent time and money making sure it will last. Even 10 years in the run the power and fuel economy is right on or slightly behind other manufactures which is acceptable. Also the fact we can get better fuel economy that the EPA estimate.
Now every car will eventually break. Toyota knows this and they have taken that into consideration. When this engine goes out or the tranny etc the bill will be high, but not as expensive as having injectors that cost hundreds for each, a 7 or 8 speed rebuilt cost and so on and so forth. As time goes by and prices drop toyota will eventually include this in their vehicles. Now if you want all this now, this is why they have the Lexus division. Where you have the 2gr-fe with direct injection. 8 speed trannys and all the bells and whistle you want. And make no mistake Lexus is right on par with BMW and Benz but they don't have the reliability and dependability lexus has. Google it lexus is far ahead of EVERY SINGLE luxury manufacture in overall build quality and not by a little.
Furthermore, since 2007 the camry has become more sporty from the elegant and quite frankly boring grocery getter it use to be. However it will take time for the rest of the world to stop thinking of the camry as an appliance and realise its a great choice. Toyota knows this, so slowly they will make the camry more sporty and have more technology while the rest of the world starts to take notice.
I agree and I hate that they dont offer a manual. I would have a v6 manual if they had one. But they did that because not enough people buy the manual. Hopefully they bring it back.
Hope this helps

I've got one on order as well. Scheduled to be built 10/27 or 10/28. I've seen them at the office and a few at dealers (all trim levels). Personally, I really like my 12, but I like the 15 XSE better...

I purchased a 2015 Camry Hybrid XLE yesterday. My dealership just received two in on Friday. It is the Ruby Flare Pearl color. I replaced a 2011 Prius, which I really liked.

Between my wife and me, this is our 5th Camry, since 1993. We have had 13 Toyotas since 1979. I have really liked them all except the Prius C, which we only kept for a year. My son has a 2007 Prius hatchback, which he loves.

I also have a 2005 Highlander now, which I kept for snow and carrying bigger things. My wife has the 2013 Camry Hybrid and loves it. We will only buy odd year model years. It started out by accident, so we decided to go with it, just for fun.

I wasn't sure that I liked the new Camry front grille in the photos, but I liked it when saw it in real life. It has a heavy vinyl feel, not a cheap plastic feel, on the XLE. I've only driven it about 10 miles but so far so good. There isn't anything I don't like about it yet, I doubt there will be, as the 2013 Camry has been fine so far.

They know us pretty well at the dealership. The negotiation is always pleasant.

Today ends my first week of ownership. All is well. Today was the first day of driving alone so I was paying more attention instead of talking. I felt the ride was solid and very quiet. I never had a sunroof or heated seats and used them both today, which was quite nice. So far, I'm happy with the car.

2013 vs. 2015 camry

If there is a difference, it is subtle. I had read about the newer one having some more soundproofing in the doors and I thought I could feel it. But then I must remember how easily the mind can play tricks on you, so I'll just say that if there is a difference, it is subtle.

I'm looking forward to driving it to work tomorrow and might have some insights tomorrow evening.

There sure isn't any love and excitement for the 2015 Camry. That's a real bummer for Toyota. What a shame...

Toyota was really hyping the major mid-model redesign in a big way - thinking there would be a high demand for big sales, and there would be a shortage of the 2015 Camry for many months. Guess not... Maybe they'll get it figured out over the next two years for the 2017 model.

It's too early to say anything about 15's sales and demand. Most of the dealers have only a dozen+ of 15's and still got a lot of 2014.5 on the lots.
Me and my buddy going to visit a dealer tonight; he is trying to trade in his 2010 XLE V-6 and wants to try out a 15' LE, SE and XLE I-4.

Don't get me wrong but I haven't seen a single 2015 Camry on the road yet!
I haven't seen a 2015 Camry on the road yet either...and I do a fair amount of traveling around the DFW Metroplex with a population of 7 million people and dozens of Toyota dealers.

It's nowhere near number 1 in Canada...anyway....

We'll see how the year ends...last month was a down month, where Accord took the top spot, but YTD Camry is still 30K units up on it. Those dealers better ramp up and start selling...they'll likely have to discount if Toyota wants to keep that #1 spot. I've only seen one on the dealer lot, but then I just happened to be leaving the dealer after service so I'm sure they had more in the back (this was last week).

Hopefully, that pressure by Honda keeps Toyota to keep those incentives on the Camry.

I liked the red too and I thought the red stitching in the interior was a very nice detail from the first time I saw it in the photos. I like them in person as well. That's the way I ordered mine.

While there are still limited numbers of them out there, I know we have delivered over 1100 of them to our 154 dealers in the last 2 weeks. They aren't still all there ...

Slow sell-down/ramp-up? There are a good number of unsold 2014's sitting on dealer property up here. Plus, they are going to ship to the major sales ares first.

Where I just bought my '14.5, they had one 'lightly equipped' silver SE on the lot (and several XSE's on order.) It was nice enough, but not really what I wanted.

I might have gone for an XSE, if they'd had a couple to choose from. (The wife REALLY wanted heated leather seats) However, my 'left-over' 14.5 is mechanically almost identical to the new ones, had most of the options I wanted, and was at least $4k cheaper!

Looks like the dealer in this video is using a factory license plate mounting bracket to display his dealer [advertisement] tag.

molson.david - Did you ever get a chance to drive by the 121 area to look for the Toyota dealership construction sign I thought I saw?

http://www.nbcnews.com/business/autos/toyota-giving-plain-vanilla-camry-makeover-n230406

The Japanese maker long downplayed criticism of its style by noting the breadth of its market and suggesting it had to play it safe to appeal to such a diverse group of buyers. But it was stunned by the response it received from dealers after previewing the 2011 Camry ahead of its its public launch. The criticism was so intense Toyota raced to make as many changes as possible before the sedan reached showrooms.

The truth comes out about the intense criticism from dealers after previewing the 2011 Camry ahead of its public launch. I heard about this. Wonder what all they changed at the last minute...
