costs too much to repaint. since im spending 1500 on the car, it would be like buying another just to paint it lol.

but i am thinking about getting some of those projectors from ebay and throwing some HID's in there. I had done with with my SVT focus and I found a seller on there that actually has good projectors. I'll probably go with 4300K just so I dont stick out like a sore thumb to cops. I had 12000K in my focus SVT, [it was blurple color] so the hid's matched the car paint :)

anyway, rims dont matter to me, just a facelift does haha

I do not modify my camrys severely. I like them stock  I like the interior, it is not cheap plastic one. My cars are 14 and 15 y.o. and no squeaks inside still! The only problematic part is inner door handles - they break.
Engine (1MZ, V6) is one of the best toyota's engine in 90's, IMHO. Reasonable powerful and economic. Transmission (A541E) is very reliable, my cars are 150Kmi and 200Kmi with no problems (engine/transmission).
Never owned 5S-FE (4 cyl) / A140, so can't say anything about it.

beige is a pretty easy color to mod. silver wheels look great as well as black with silver lips. get some springs and shocks to lower it a little, maybe a tarus lip, nice grill and some black chrome headlights and youll be sittin pretty.

Take the 1500 and get a set of coilovers....the best mod for your buck...worry about everything else later seeing as this is one of the most expensive. Once you get more money, look into wheels/tires, exhaust and intake, then tint...and with a good body, you will have a clean looking car...then mod engine...:naughty:

Well the original question involved "tricking out" your Camry.. so this includes performance mods to most people. Giving a drop would lower your center of gravity and so you would take corners harder and it would also change the look of the Camry. Sure, stock springs and struts are okay.. lowering it will probably give a harsher ride, but it will have better handling.

Screw visual stuff and work with suspension first. Your VERY FIRST upgrade should be the whiteline (or TRD, which is impossible to find) rear sway bar. Best $150 you can throw at these cars.

finally. Spend your money making the car run right FIRST with performance mods and maintenance. THEN make it look pretty. There's no point having a polished piece of shit...like every other ricer.

how much is it to do the 5spd swap? If its anything like hondas, or ford focus, its cheaper to just sell the car and buy a 5 spd in the first place. again, not too serious on the swap.. just curious
If you do all the work yourself, shouldn't be too bad. There was a whole swap for sale on the threads a week or two ago. Should be somewhere around a grand? I dunno.

I personally don't think it was worth all the work...Wish I just kept the auto when I did my engine swap.

Stick in a DD is pretty painful.

Currently got a black SC2 spoiler, DEPO headlights and corners, clear bumper lenses (didn't install the turn signal one though), Taurus lip that I STILL haven't gotten around to installing, purple tints and red/black vinyls on the side. Getting 17" alloys in the spring, like bird said, black with chrome lip is good, so is gunmetal or silver.

Haha yeah most times im in neutral as well. But autos have neutral too!

I just hate shifting and smelling burning cluthc.

Thats why I just wait til I have about 5 car lengths between me and the car infront of me and then I go...everyone behind me can wait...

gotta say coming from being a stick fan for MANY years....I finally have gotten lazy (started with the Legend actually)....and I wouldnt have another manual for DD ever again....I dont know if I would even have for a out of town car really....maybe straight racecar (autoX)...even with a drag car...I would rather have a auto...more consistent launch.

The tan is easier color to mod....I personally like silver rims or Black/polished....they seem to look best to me....or dark glossy black all over....but that is just my opinion.

Heck I have a hideous green and I barely have any paint left, dont mean that I am gonna stop in fixing it up....and I gotta say I must have one of the WORST looking cars on this forum......but man, she is a runner and that was my prime goal.....I have totally fallen in love with the car....doesnt have the power my Legend had...188 VS 230 is a pretty big difference....but it has enough.................for now. I do see a supercharger some day....dunno if will be in THIS car, or if this one will just be a parts runner...I do plan on a second one to just play with though. Be awhile before that happens thgouh either.

With 1500 you should be able to get a pretty decent running and looking car....since I paid so lil and mine might look terrible, like I said, it is the most solid running car I have had in a LONG time...1500 should get you both sides of the coin that I coulda really cared less about...I wanted it running....and run it does...in fact mine just finished a 500 mile round trip without a flaw....I was MIGHTY impressed.

Good luck and I hope to see a build thread with you car here soon.

I plan on mine since I just got a raise at work

I'm sneaking in again, lol apparently performance mods > looks...so what does that stray bar do? Seems like a cheap mod...easier handling? I would never have gotten into cars if it hadn't been for this damn camry :p
:facepalm::lol: well, theres a sway bar,.. then theres a strut bar/brace. not a stray bar.
sway bar creates less understear. i have one... installing soon.
strut brace does..well idk. lol. i think its very little for handleing. but for like $30 shipped... i ordered one. lol hope this helps
