From articles I read they said according to Toyota the name Yaris is derived from the Greek god Charis and German word, oh dang it I forgot! But its made up to my knowledge by combining two names together if that makes sense...maybe some one will have a link. From what I read Toyota is notorious for making up names if you say. I post the link only to help explain the word Yaris in order to answer the question which is the subject of this thread. As for the review itself, I have my personal reservations in respect of some of the comments therein.

What about the ECHO? why would they name a car after "a reccurance of sound"? not like it was very loud in the first place! :lol: Anyway seriously, i think it was somewhere along the lines of a mythilogical something or other anyway. Anyone remeber what it was? nothin on wiki....

 

Yaris means race in turkish

 

More specifically, Yaris means speed in Turkish. I have a Turkish friend whose sir-name is Yaris. He outta know. Heh...

 

Hiz is the word for speed in Turkish,yaris means race or contest as in running for political office.the s needs a tail though.No offense towards your friend though, in fact in the case of sir names the meaning could be different.Im just talking about everyday conversation.
