Blackout chrome trim...

I'm thinking about removing the lower door trim and blacking out the window trim and the front and rear chrome trim.

I'm pretty confident I can wrap the front and rear, but the window trim would probably be easier to plastidip. I'm just not sure if I should

Has anyone done this on a '15+?

I wouldn't mind the chrome on any other color, but I'm not crazy about it with the black. I feel like the lower door trim makes it look too high-class(old farty), and less sporty than I like.

I used 3m 1080. On all door / window chrome. You would have to buy Waaay too big of a piece to be long enough for the bottom. For that I bought a roll of satin black 1" wide by 20 ft. from J eggs I think. It is far enough away it looks like the 3M. Avery is just as good I think so go price.
Buy from Michigan. Those guys in TX kept giving creased stuff and shorted the cut.
Check my avatar and you can see the satin vinyl on it.
PM me if u want.

The 3m stuff comes by the foot in 60" widths. I could probably do everything I need with 2 feet, but I may get 3 just in case.

I just wonder if it's easier to plastidip the window trim, but will the results be as nice and durable? I'm also unsure if I should go matte or gloss on the window trim because of the fake window on the C-pillar.

I ordered some gloss black 3M 1080...I'm at least doing the front and rear chrome with it. I wonder how easy those pieces are to remove. I think the front comes off easy. I had to replace the grille insert on an XLE, and that was more of a pain than you'd think. Screws everywhere.

For the trunk you first need to remove the the trunk lid liner then you will see cut outs on the interior of the trunk lid to access the nuts to remove the rear trim(about 5-6 bolts), word of caution my bolts were so tight I actually started to unscrew the threaded shift from the trim piece before the nut broke loose.

I looked at the Trimbrite Black-Out tape, and the widest I could find online was 1 3/8" wide, which is about half the width of the rear section of the window trim. Shadowlinetrim.com has widths of 3-5" in lengths of 30 feet.

I already got my 3M gloss for the front grill and trunk garnish. I'm still up in the air about the gloss on the window trim. I think it'll blend well especially on the c-pillar.

Anyway, I removed the chrome lower door molding...pardon the dirty car.
