Can Somebody Finally Tell Me The Difference Between an LE and a CE?

I don't see very many CE's but they're around. I used to own a 1997 Camry CE for years and for the life of me couldn't figure out the difference between it and an LE. Looking it up online, most answers said the CE didn't have power locks, windows or keyless entry while the LE did but my CE had all that. I have an 07 LE now. A friend is considering purchasing the same model year as mine but it's a CE. Are there really any big differences? There must be something or Toyota wouldn't have bothered with different badges...lol.

There are some differences, but between the CE to LE, there is not a lot of easy 'meets the eye' stuff.
CE and LE differences for 1997 minor. Interior seats were different materials and there was no shift light indicator on the dash cluster. A lot of options (power locks, windows, keyless entry) were not standard (was the keyless entry factory or aftermarket?). CE trim in 1997 had a physical antenna in the back trunk that no other trim (or years) after had. CE trim also had no option for ABS as well IIRC except with V6
As for the 2007 models, I don't recall much difference. I consider the 'CE' trim a strip down 'LE' trim with the LE coming with more standard options and optional package. Probably the CE doesn't have power seats and keyless entry. Check for lumber support as well, may not have that.

To be honest, the CE trims never sold well (standard trim) since most people wanted/considered the power windows, locks, and key fob entry a 'must have thing' nowadays. Since most people wanted those features, they would add it on, but to get an LE with those added on for a small amount more, LE sold more.

100% spot on.

The only difference between a Gen 6 CE and LE is:

1. The badge
2. No keyless entry
3. No driver side power seat.

Having 2 cars without keyless entry and 1 with (my Camry did too) it's a very worthwhile option. I don't care much about the power seat.

I would probably hold out for an LE as the pricing is virtually indistinguishable.

CE's in the earlier Camry's had much more discrepencies. However, if you noticed starting from 2007 and maybe even the 5th generation the gap between CEs and LE's were much smaller. If you noticed Toyota now doesn't offer CE anymore I think it starts with "L" or "LE" I know they did the "L" thing for a while without badging but I don't know about now.

2007-2011 CE is missing Keyless Entry and Driver Power Seat while all LE came with these options standard and could've ordered with 16" alloy wheels, fogs, flaps, roof and leather. Also a few colors like Magnetic Gray, Aloe Green Pearl and Barcelona Red were not available on CE.
