Let me just start off by saying this forum has been very helpful to me in finding out things I didn't know of my car lol, this whole time I had no idea and I just recently found out the ashtray and cigarette lighter have illumination and so far I replaced the #74 bulb in the ashtray but I'm finding a hard time looking for either a replacement or part number for that tiny bulb that supposedly lights up the cigarette lighter

I actually just took mine apart today I need new bulbs but i was replacing the Cig lighter with a USB marine socket... That Cigarrete bulb is hard to remove a paper clip may help...

Bulb size should be a 74 also and I did a quick google search and came up with this Dorman part number... 639-004
. Try and verify before you buy!

I actually did remove the bulb by twisting hard and I found out the contacts are soldered so it's going to be hard just plugging a new one in and it's smaller than 74 size it's probably half the size

Toyota: Yo dawg I heard you like lights so we added a light in your lighter so you can have light while you light up

That looks identical to the one I pulled out except for a blue bulb cover instead of green, I'm considering buying that if it came in the stock blue

When I tried to change it a few years ago with all the other dash bulbs I couldn't figure out how to get the bulbs out. Rather than guess wrong, I decided to put it off. I haven't seen any writeups, but if there is one I'd sure like to see it. They're the only lights out on my dash.

The dealers will only sell you the entire switch assembly.

I'm probably just going to buy the whole assembly together but will it make a difference having the green cover over the blue one that came stock?

Another thing by any chance does anyone know the part number or where I can find the rubber blue cover that goes over the HVAC 74 sized bulb? The condom ripped...:frown:

I've gotten them out of cars in the junkyard. Of course they're old and might burn out soon, so grab a handful! OEM radios are a good place to find a bunch of them...

I meant the little socket that clips onto the plug to light up the socket sorry for my poor choice of words lol

Some of those "Grain of Wheat" bulbs do pull out of their sockets. Not all of them are soldered in.
I'm pretty sure you can just stick a socket with a removable bulb in place of one which has a non-removable bulb.
