Hi there,

I have a 99 Camry. When I switch the air vent to draw air from outside into the car. I got these bad smell, I'm planning to clean the air vent out. since there is no carbon filter in the 99 Camry. I want to know where does the air intake location on the outside of the car? I want to use an air Disinfectant Spray to clean out the vent smell, where does the intake vent inside the car to draw the air in to circulation. Is any other good tips to clean it? Thanks All

Air intake is at the base of the windshield. See those slots? That's were the air is drawn in from. ;)

You might want to pull the cover off and see if something might be stuck in there. Another thing would be a critter got into yer blower motor and got chopped up. Drop the blower and inspect/clean it along with the housing. ;)

Keep in mind that if you have any buildup on the evaporator coils, it will pick up any smoke smell that you will have. You need to drop the blower, clean the squirrel cage and housing, and the evaporator coil. Cleaning just the vents won't git rid of the smoke smell...really. ;)

After the Lysol treatment, all the nasty smell is gone. The incoming air is fresh and nice now. Don't know how long this will last. But for $3 and 5 minutes job it sure works good, esp in the summer. So every one should try it before paying someone to clean it. I will do this to my car once every fewmonths, just to keep everything fresh and clean.
