As title states, does it require premium? I am thinking of getting a Toyota Venza xle 2013 v6 and I was wondering if it needs premium.

I think if you used premium your MPG might be lower. I think they increase octane by increasing the oxygenates ie: alcohol.

A little off topic back in the 80's I knew somebody that put premium in his wife's Toyota PU and it lost MPG plus it seemed to run worse. Of course this wasn't scientific.

Everyone affordability is different. A big majority of people buy vehicles without thinking about maintenance costs. I had a guy come into my shop for a flat repair on a Porsche Cayenne. Nail in the sidewall (non fixable). Price quote for a tire replacement was over $450 for one tire because it was a rare 19" tire size that only Pirelli made. He said he wouldn't afford $450 and I was jacking up the price. I told him to go to the dealership for their price quote. >:D

No. It's not required. If I recall correctly, a while ago there was a thread here stating that using premium would give a lil bump in hp/tq. Technically premium isn't required on the Lexus however it bumps up the hp/tq a lil bit.
