the point is i just want to be lazy, and let them kick on by them selves , like the es300 this car is replacing. i dont like drls, and i thought there would be a simple cut a wire or fuse pull, that didnt have any bad happenings.
I know what you're saying, you want to leave them on auto so the low-beams come on when it gets dark, but during the day no lights will be on. I haven't looked myself, but the poster above said there may be a DRL fuse, so check out the fuse box covers and see if theres anything that states DRL.
Another solution is to remove the high beam bulbs, but then you won't have high beams..
I had this done on my ES350 first thing when I bought it. I brought it to the dealership and had them dissable DRL as part of the LPS option for my car. After that, the AUTO feature will still work just like before, just that DRL is never on during the day.
I'm not sure if this is possible on the Camry - try asking the dealership's service folks
oh yes this can be done no problem at all .. all u have to do is go to the dealer and tell them to turn the drl off they can use the scan tool .. thats what i did on mine along with the damn seatbelt buzzer.. its so nice..
According to the Toyota feature spec it has "Daytime Running Lights (DRL) with off mode"....their appears to be way to turn it off w/o all these tricks.
Yea, Turn it to the "off" position on the stalk. They want to be able to leave the switch in the "Auto" position w/o the DRL's coming on. This option is only programmable by the dealer.
Feel better, I guess you did not get my point...? ...but we also can discuss about a lot of other possible things people can come up with and what the car could or should do...
^ thats what im thinking! you cant even see it unless you go to the front of your car and stare at it. Plus the drl's could possibly save your life someday.
well i put in some hir bulbs and they only have a life of 250 hours so , i dont want the low wattage eating my hours plus my es300, tacoma and tc dont have drl's so y should the camry, it is not a law like it is in canada to have drls, it is an option, an option i dont want.
The Daytime run lights are a safety feature. Why some of you would want to defeat the purpose is beyond me. They're not meant for you to like. They're meant to catch other driver's eyes.
DRL's in my case are a pain in the rear. I have a 2001 Passat (purchased 3/2004 with 35k miles) and I now have 128k miles on it. Thanks to the DRL's (and Silver Stars) my lenses are so fogged over on the inside that it didn't pass inspection. It's very hard to see on dark roads at night, but thankfully the highways here are well lit. I just bought a 2005 Camry XLE, so the Passat will stay parked at night until I can replace the lenses (@ $150 ea). I am scrambling to find a way to disable the DRL's on my Camry (48k miles) so I am not in the same situation 5 years from now. I didn't realize how unsafe my Passat was at night until I drove the Camry at night. Looks like I'll have the dealer turn them off along with the blasted seat belt chime.
well this morning i stopped off and got the drl turned off, all 4 doors to unlock with one push, and the sunroof to open to position 2 with one touch, so no double tap.
now off to find the fog light relay.
oh ok thats like the rolla's. my 05 camry only has one button. you push the forward button to tilt. push the back button and hold to auto open or push it little by little to open it in increments.
