DRL Or Other Headlight Settings Off When Parked

Is there a way in the 12th gen to idle in park with the parking brake on, to have all external lights off? Alot of my vehicles in the past could do this by engaging the parking brake, but when lowering the parking breaking(protege, civic, basically all my other jap cars before 2015) or when putting in gear(the wrx stayed off even after lowering park brake, until putting in first gear) the DRL would at that time start.

I'm looking to do the same. I find time to sleep in my car and often times let it idle when I do that. (Breaks at work, traveling and selecting a dark spot) letting my heat stay on.

I have also noticed our cars shut off after idling for 1 hour. No big deal but if I'm cheaping out on hotels traveling accross provinces before reaching a destination, this is less then ideal.

Anyways. Is there a way to leave the exterior lights 100% off? (CvT 2022)

AND BONUS POINTS TO ANYONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO TURN OFF AUTO SHUT OFF..(prob taking it out of eco mode? Haven't tried yet)

Normally, DRL come on when you release the parking brake after the initial start (and remains on independently of parking brake afterward). So starting the car without releasing the parking brake afterward might do the trick.

Careful with long idling as it leads to poorly burned fuel, detrimental to many components of the engine/exhaust system. Plus the battery can't recharge at idle and a weak battery has all sort of consequences for the many electronic systems in modern car. Not to mention pollution and, mostly, risk of personal intoxication.

There is a reason modern cars have an auto-stop to idling and idling is regulated in most jurisdiction. To "squat" in a car, I'd say getting proper camping equipment would end up costing a lot less (and be more safe and comfortable) than the consequences of using components of the car that aren't designed to be used that way.

Geeze boys. Alot of hate it feels like coming from you for a guy who sleeps in his car on breaks at work and doesn't use hotels multiple consecutive nights in a row driving 5000km..

Ill just park near highway parking outlet with a sleeping bag or a source of safe heat if I'm traveling in the winter. Or even better I'll waste money on a hotel for the 5 hours I try to sleep when I do travel alone lol.

As for sleeping at work. No way I'm bringing a sleeping bag for one hour to "squat like a rolling stone" which was the basis to the majority of my question.

If you want the full details I work at a nuclear plant where they drive around in military vehicles looking around in the vehicles at work to make sure noone is doing drugs or sketchy terrorist shit. I'm allowed to nap and I'm allowed to idle my car while I nap. Especially if its bellow zero out. But I'd like to have my headlights off 100% to at least be a little inconspicuous while I'm doing it seeing as I am getting paid and the odd person may have a problem with it. I dont feel like waking up to a c16 assault rifle at my window lol. Especially not bundled up in a sleeping bag like I'm taking advantage of the break time. Wouldn't look very good....

And the main reason why I'm not concerned about poorly burnt fuel is because I don't do it all that often, just during this temporary outage. My plugs and oil should be fine plus I change them frequently anyways. Way sooner then suggested. And the final fact I also understand there is carbon buildup from unburnt fuels but im also amongst the few who media blast and perform things outside of general maintenance as general maintenance so I'd have to say ill be no different with this car.

All I wanted to know was if the parking break was the only way to keep all the lights off on most cars or if there was another trick to these cars to make that happen. Unfortunately the Canadian models do have DTRL by law but usually the long narrow strip and all other lights remain off when starting the cars with the ebrake on the way some of ya suggested. No biggie

Thanks anyways guys I'll go about my business without anymore concern about the lights since it's such a touchy subject to idle my car with some of ya.
