I had that experience with an aftermarket alarm. The problem was a weak battery. In colder weather the voltage drop is similar enough to break in that the alarm trips the same way it would if a door was opened and the light came on. New battery-not problem.

 

The battery is only 5 months old.

 

Check connections, load test it. New does not always mean good.

 

Did it rain, mist, snow, or get washed before this happened?

Some Sequoias, mine included, randomly have this problem. It seems to be an issue with water intrusion into the under dash fuse box OR door latching issues from worn out door lock actuators. My Sequoia did it twice over the 3.5 years I've owned it. Both times after getting wet (storm and carwash) and both times while the door didnt quite latch perfectly (actuator was damaged). One poster here confirmed water intrusion was his issue but I couldn't find evidence of water intrusion in mine.

The issue is so rare and inconsistent, it's difficult to correlate a specific condition. If you can get it to be repeatable, take it to the dealer.

 

I had the same issue on my 06' sequoia . Turns out it was the rear latch/door jam switch that was bad. I replaced it a few days ago and the alarm has not gone off yet.

 

Check on the hood courtesy switch right in the hood latch assembly. Mine was covered in grime and dirt, causing the switch to open and close on its own at random hours of the day. After spraying it with electrical contact cleaner, it seemed to help, but I replaced it anyway. The alarm has not gone off for 2 weeks now.

I got the Panasonic switch off Digi-Key for a few bucks plus shipping.

 

my 05 was like that, random, rear hatch lock, replaced that as i was having other issues with rear handles breaking because of extra force needed to open hatch
