Success! - Wireless AA / Carplay / Android 9 OS - Managed to get up and running in Corolla LE 2020
Quite impressive. It does way more than I ever thought it would. Way more than TOYOTA would or even could offer.
Use your imagination and yes it works. Videos/TV/Web/Apps - No Limits. Though yes there are a few bugs to be worked out (such as display)
I will post an update after I have has a few to mess around with the system.
However, to save all much time and aggravation, I thought I would pass on a few important notes regarding the installation,
there are a few things one should be aware of.
ApplePie Car Box though marked USB PLUG & PLAY, this is only half correct.
* If your ENTUNE radio features SIRIUSXM SAT RADIO built into the hardware of the radio, then YES, USB PLUG & PLAY is all it takes.
* If your ENTUNE radio features SIRIUSXM SAT RADIO via an EXTERNAL ADD ON TUNER, then NO USB PLUG & PLAY will not work.
The ADD ON TUNER must be disconnected in FULL from behind your radio. (SXM radio will be available through APP on new setup)
This is because the SXM ADD ON TUNER uses the same input line as the APPLEMINI CAR BOX
and will OVERIDE/PREVENT the APPLEMINI from displaying on your screen.
Once you have access to the back of your radio, Simply disconnect the GRAY plug that is currently installed in the back of the ENTUNE radio,
and replace it with the GRAY plug that is currently installed into the SXM Add on tuner.
(Remove from SXM Tuner > Plug directly into ENTUNE radio)
* A most important step here is also PRIOR to plugging in the AppleMini Car Box for the first time, I highly recommend a FULL ENTUNE SYSTEM FACTORY RESET.
Save the headache, Wipe out all prior WiFi/Bluetooth settings.
Menu > Settings > Delete Personal Data - a message popup 'Entune System Update,' will appear. Install all updates. Once update finishes, Restart your car in full. Then USB Plug & Play will successfully connect.
* Do not proceed to set any car settings (radio/seats/locks) until after your first successful connection to the AppleMini. Operations there forward is all in the instructions.
All this worked for me. Now all is up and running most on cue. Now we dig in.
a few sneak peeks on the goods.
