Has anyone successfully turbo a 3SFE. Thier is a memeber of our forum [RAV4world.com] that turbo charged a RAV4 and had a ton of problem. I've asked him and I'm waiting for an answer. But, here, has any one done this turbo setup in a 3SFE engine?

Its never EVER been done before. Nobody had ever driving thousands of trouble free miles on a turbocharged 3s-fe with 315k miles on it. Never ever.

Hey Charlie...when ya gonna do a write up for us? you and da_horse are the only ones that i know that had turbos and no problems, and da_horse ditched his.....PLEASE?! just what parts you used, what modifications were needed and if you know, some numbers would be nice too, 0-60, 1/4mile HP, Tq...that sort of thing.

he's got the 3SFE, but his blew up because of too much boost and a lean cylinder. i wanna run like 5lbs or so...keep it calm and reliable.

dude, there's a pic of it in his sig...even has the explantion

i believe is 10lbs of boost + #4cylinder running lean = gernaded piston.

Meisner has a turboed 5s.
Yeah, but he blew his... ;)

88LE no longer has the turbo kit on his Camry. Its been on my car for almost two years now. I've owned the car for about a year and a half, and I have successfully driven the car 7k miles with not motor problems (just checked the plugs this weekend - perfect so far!). Then again, my motor was rebuilt before the turbo was put on the car with chromoly rings and a metal headgasket.

I didn't know da_horse has his turbo installed??

I'm to busy getting the car running to do a write-up at this point. No dynos yet - it wouldn't be very impressive! LOL... Once the car's repainted, the suspension is finished, the intercooler is installed, the new engine management is running... blah blah blah... there are a ton of things to do, and I still have my WRX to work on too. ;) Come to LA - I'll show you the car. :D

yea from what i could tell from old threads, he had it up and running fine, but then he had to sell it.

Im just curious to how the 3sfe turbo preforms, i know its nothing drastic, but somthings better than nothing.

^ Nope.

Charlie (white90dx) has my turbo and a rebuilt cylinder head that I use to have.

All I have leftover is a block, tranny, and various engine parts.
:D

Actually, that extra head might come in handy soon... The head on my current motor has a little valve tick. :sosad: At least the motor is running strong otherwise.

i turboed my camry? my 3sfe? serious ? wow so who removed it this morning? c'mon was it you jetspeed? own up dude... :p:

nah i've accumulated parts for the conversion, however i havent got the funds for me to do a rebuild and installation. i think you got me mixed up with crazy_camry, steve. most of the parts that crazy_camry had i've bought off him. a list of the parts are in the list that i posted in the gen 2 camry crew thread

one day when i get some more money i'll do the conversion, but at the moment i'm focusing more on handling factors, as its no point having more power if i cant brake or use it effectively. i also need to purchase a few more parts, ecu etc...

i gotta check TN more often :p:
