How do you people deal with road rage?

On my drive to school today, there was a jeep behind me that was flashing his highbeams at me. It irritated the hell out of me because there was a sh*t ton of traffic in front of me and letting him pass would still mean hes in traffic.

I kept getting pissed off that he was tailgating me and flashing his highbeams at me that I tailgated the car infront of me to go faster, even though its pointless..

..and just before I lost myself to road rage, I took my turn into school...

I got rear ended by a girl in the school parking lot last friday. She backed out and didn't even bother to look back... my whole back bumper is scratched and somewhat dented, and is noticable from a distance... but being the nice guy that I am, I just said it was okay. She had no insurance... :disappoin

Anyways, I was just wondering how everyone copes with road rage. If I had not taken that turn into the school and continued being distracted by the jeep, I would have stopped and pulled the guy in the jeep out of his car and beat him down...

If someone is aggressively driving up my butt, I just pull aside at the soonest safe opportunity. I don't tailgate EVER and I don't allow people to do it to me for long. It's unsafe and it's the #1 cause of fatal highway accidents.

I'm a fast driver so people don't do it to me often, but as a rule if I sense someone is angry behind the wheel, I let them pass and/or stay as far away as possible. You can't settle anything by doing the same idiot behavior yourself. You just got to let it go.

It all depends on the situation....

1) I'm speeding and some guy starts tailgating me, I let my foot off the throttle and drop to the speed limit. drive like that for a minute or 2. Then I speed back up to my previous pace. Most people prefer the latter and stay off my ass. Or given the oportunity they will pass me.

2)Someone cuts me off and tries to cause me to crash, or slams their brakes on. I get the plate #, make, model and colour of the vehicle and report it to the police. I then pass that info. onto a friend, who one week later files a complaint against the same person. In Canada, if you have 3 complaints against you, by different people, the cops will mail you a ticket, and you will gets points taken off you lience. Even though there is no hard evidence. I usually give them 2 strikes, as the cops offer them a warning. This will hopefully make them understand the consiquences of their actions.

I'm actually calling the cops today about some jack ass in his BMW over the weekend.

Whatever you do, do not tailgate someone else. If for some reasion he has to slam his brakes, and you rear end them......YOU are at fault.

I agree with Roc...play it smart and get the last laugh....

Personally, I try to keep free from conflict, not drive angry or like I have something to prove on the highway. Now someone cuts me off and you expect no reaction....think again, I do the same thing, call the cops and hope he gets a ticket

thats a very cool system canada has.

I usually just do a lot of swearing in the car, sometimes I get really pissed about how stupid people are being, but youve gotta remember to stay calm because the lives of yourself and others are at stake; driving isnt the game a lot of people make it out to be.

Then when I get home I play some grand theft auto san andreas; thats great for curing roadrage!

Just let them get in front of you where you can keep your eyes on them. Shit like that ain't worth fighting for, ain't worth worry about. Keep your cellphone handy and if things really get hairy, get ready to run someone over. If you're forced to defend yourself, defend yourself. In no way should you exit your vehicle to confront someone.

I would at least get a blow job out of that girl.

roc.. never heard about the 3 complaint thing before... how can they prove it's a true complaint?? they can't, so why would they ticket you??
I filed a complaint once about this ass hole who cut me off, then followed me home. I was smart enough to not go home, but to the police station. When he realized where I was going he made a quick turn and booked it.
After filing the complaint, the officer told me that, they will call him and give hime a verbal warning, if he gets 1 more complaint of this nature (road rage/wreckless driving), that they will follow up with a written warning, and another one will result in a ticket. It is one hell of a good way to cut down on road rage.

This was however a couple yrs back, so I'm not 100% that they still use it, but I'll find out as soon as I call to report that asshole on the weekend.

If I have someone tailgating me I just let off the accelerator until they pass. I don't care for them. Also if I feel that someone is following me I take 3 turns and if after the third turn he's still behind me, I just pull over.

though usually if people see a heavily modified car, they don't tailgate because they presume you can pull away from them anytime you want and leave them in your dust anyway

Im a zen master when it comes to road rage. I keep my cars tuned up (brakes, tires, suspension, etc) so Im confident in handling and anticipating most driving errors on other peoples parts. And if someone does try and do something deliberate to me, I have no problem yeilding (both literally and figuratively) if that will avoid an ego battle on the road.

Cut the wheel turn my car sideways in the middle of the road, get out and go up to the window and start yelling at them..

I say "fuck you" w/ a big smile on my face.

With all the dumb ass drivers in Calgary i find it hard not to get pissed of. So i don't drive fast anymore, I am usually in the slow lane doing the speed limit. What really pisses me of and gives me a bit of road rage is when i am in the slow lane and ppl are tailgating me. I am like wtf go around me, the left lane is free to pass me.

I could care less who's on my ass, I worry about whats in front of me!
I usually exceed the speed limit and if someone wants to ride my butt I figure he's just drafting me
I do get alittle I-RATE when someone is in the left lane doin the speed limit, and feels he/she has a duty to prevent someone else from braking the law!!
It makes me break another law of no passing on the right. :disappoin
But I never get enraged :smokin:

The fastest cars don't look "heavily modified" usually.

If I see a car with giant wing, Altezza lights, a big fart pipe and 5-12 stickers on it, then the only engine mod is going to be a CAI for +5 hp and there is a good chance it is an automatic.

When I see a riced out car, the LAST thing I think is that it's fast.
