How would you fix a broken bumper cover mounting tab?

You know the mounting tabs on the far top ends of the bumper cover, that bolts to a clip on the fender? One of them broke. How would you fix it?

I previously glued a steel sheet to the remains using Permatex Cold-weld and it broke. Dad is suggesting I rivet a steel plate to the bumper cover from top edge and side in a very visible location, then touching those rivets up. I have no Bondo and don't feel like using it.

how bad is it? i've heard of guys repairing street bike cracked/broken flaring with a high heat soldering iron and melting the plastic back together. i've even heard of them using a small wire mesh on the backside and melting into the plastic.

It's OEM, and I think it is polyurethane.

Dunno how I missed this thread.

Have you previously tried using polyurethane bumper weld? They sell it at princess auto.

Flexible epoxy would be another thing that comes to mind.
Looks like you have been away from the Corolla scene for too long.

Their site didn't turn this up. I'm waiting for the new location at McCowan/401 to open so I don't have to drive half an hour either way to get at one. :chug:
Apparently Permatex Cold Weld (a 2-part epoxy kind of thing) didn't cut it.

A friend used to own a body shop and he had a plastic welder setup he used for repairing bumpers, motorcycle plastics, etc. Some of the plastic welders look like soldering irons but have special tips and welding rods made for whichever material you are welding. When done right, this type repair is as strong as before the damage.
