Please excuse the crude cell pics, was in a hurry and couldn't find the real camera. After long consideration I said what the hell... can you spot the mod(s)??

What do you guys think, you can be totally honest, I will post better pics later.

I hate showing unfinished products, but I have a few (3) other slight rear end mods on order and awaiting delivery.

First off I have debadged it leaving the toyota emblem, second, yes I have added the two round tail lights Lexus style, and they are not merely stickers. I'm going to smoke the tails next and two other mods I dont think anyone has seen, I'll probably post pics perhaps next week or so when I get them...

I need to find my camera and take better pics but what do you guys think so far.

They are indeed temporary reflectors (not red stickers :p) and not functional tail lights... yet. Yes closer pics would probably reveal that DCemureviews :p. I put them on for the hell of it the other day. I wanted to see what they look like and to get a feel for them, currently I feel like they would be worth cutting into the body to install a working light with leds so its not just a tacky decoration, other than the cutting I don't think it would be hard at all.

I was thinking of leaving them on this way depending on how they looked, but its such a ghetto mod, if its easy to tell for most people that its just reflectors I'd take it off (most likely). I've only seen this done once before on the newest gen Celica and it had me fooled for a good 15 seconds or so, the car was clean otherwise and personally I thought it actually looked pretty good.

Elderly people put reflectors all over their cars? Thats news to me...
Personally I like those older 2 piece Lexus style lights quite a bit.
What are your thoughts on the look in general (Ignoring the fact that they are just temp reflectors atm)

It doesnt even have to be reflectors. They even put those rubber guards on the bumpers.

Its not even elderly people. Its just people in general. THey think it will prevent damage to their car but it wont do anything. Like those people who put those bumper guard (mats hanging from the trunk). I can understand if its like a expensive Mercedes, BMW, Maserati, Ferrari or an expensive car. I've seen people put it on their Corolla, or even a beat up car like a Buick, Ford, etc.

Hmm yea I agree for the most part, well obviously this is a different application. I'm sure I've seen reflectors on old peoples cars, but in that way I probably totally overlook it, on a nice looking car is a different story.

Sure it reflects, but for me this is for looks, and to personalize my car. Trying to walk the fine line of tastefully modifying my Camry. So shoot your opinions away. Probably wont change mine but I'd still like to know :D

Eh? You want a peice of me??!?

Sorry man, I'm not feeling it. My though on debadging is to do it to get a nice clean look. Adding those reflectors does the opposite in my opinion.
I know what your saying, the main point being those reflectors will eventually be recessed with red leds lighting up the circular diffusers and will (hopefully) look like the tail end was built that way from the factory. The debadging and this go hand in hand with my plans. As the overall effect I am going for is "thats a sweet car, I diden't know Toyota made cars like this"

its a love or hate thing for me.. not sure if i like em or not. its a nice unique idea. :D
Thanks, unique is what I'm aiming at!

But I have a strange feeling reaction to owners of the same vehicles would be different than if I posted this somewhere else where they are not so accustomed to our rear ends :naughty: or car in general. We'll see what others opinions are outside of camry owners, should be interesting. I know this Camry group is on a higher level (or at least we like to think we are ;) j/k... we obviously are) than the honda/civic boys and we are more critical of the "ricer" type mods.

I know when I bought this car that there would be less ricers or new younger less knowledgeable drivers looking to add vtech emblems to these cars. What I want to do is mod my car to the point that its more agressive and hard to immedeately spot that its a Camry yet still look like it was stock and designed that way from the factory.

Yes I love these cars but the individual in me is too strong to ignore.
Thats why I'm pretty excited with this car, with my old car the 3000gt I never modified the exterior at all in the three years I've owned it, the only thing I did was new rims/tires and color matched my black wipers with the pearl white body, as well as debadge. The car stock was already about as sleek and agressive as they come so I diden't want to mess with it.

This time I get to have a little more fun.

Well I like the idea of it, but obviously I know its just a reflector and it would look differently when properly done.

I dont want to be riding around with reflectors on my car but if people dont know any better... lol. I'm sure they do though so this is more about the idea right now.

Your car in your sig looks nice.

I thought there was only one poster dumb enough to make himself believe that he drives a Lexus when in fact he clearly doesn't...

Those stick on reflectors need to go IMHO.
I used to drive a lexus, my brother drives a lexus, and so does my dad. Personally I like my Camry better. Also If you didn't notice I still have a "T" logo on my car.

Pretty impressed it took three pages before these replys came lol.

All this talk about debadging (seems popular over there; not so much over here) has made me want to do it to mine. It sure does look cleaner without the emblems there. Once again, not quite a Camry, but it kinda is... just with a little plastic surgery.
Ah the Aurion, you know whats funny I was thinking of putting on Aurion Badges on my car to replace the Camry badges but I couldn't find them, send yours my way lol... Was just a thought but I'm liking the debadged look atm.

Please don't go through with it... not only does it look weird, but have you thought about how you're going to mount the new light, how you're going to seal them. Not only will you have to cut through the trunk lid, but you have to cut through the lining... and most likely the reinforcement inside, degrading the structural integrity... and don't even think about buying those round LED truck lights because they're just tacky....

Only way it would remotely look good would be for you to remove the inner tails, fill and shave it off evenly... then mount the previous GS inner tails...

Just my opinion... but it's your car... your choice
Yea, you are actually probably right, knowing me I would probably find a shortcut to doing it which may or may not be a good thing, but I will see what I can do. That is a fairly good idea though.

...with "Lexus style lights".
Anyways... you guys don't have to get your panties in a bunch anymore, the reflectors have almost peeled themselves off lol (as expected), so I'm going to pull em and clean it up. Once I truely finish this, then you can get your panties in a bunch.
