My wife's car is a 2015 Toyota Rav4. A couple weeks ago her keyless entry remote stopped working so I assumed it was the battery. Bought new batteries and replaced it. Still does not work. If the key is used in the keyhole on the driver's side, she can unlock the driver's door. The lock buttons inside the car work fine. Just will not unlock or lock using the key fob.

There's no "door ajar," and I checked all fuses related to power locks and they're fine. There was a mention of an electrical relay during my research but I cannot find which relay is associated with the power lock system. Anyone know what's going on with my wife's car?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums! :)

Is there a spare key fob? I'm sure there has to be a way to test a key fob if it's transmitting. Does the key fob have soft key buttons? If so, it's possible that the contacts on the inside have collected enough oils to keep it from making contact. You'll have to take it apart and clean the contacts and the buttons off with rubbing alcohol. This happens with all kinds remotes with the soft key buttons all the time. ;)

My TPS warning light has come on, 2015 RAV4 XLE. Had local garage check all the TPS sensors and they are working fine, we spent a hour testing the system, all fuses are good, ID and battery good on all TPS sensors, tire pressure good, even checked spare and found no senor there. also both keyless entry fob's stopped working. Disconnected the battery to try to reset all the CPU's. To no avail. I did the Trip A reset procedure and that did not work. Just crossed over the 77k mile mark. Does anybody now if there is a software/recall issue about this? Also if anybody knows what frequency the keyless entry works on I would like that info so I cant test them in my lab. Truck has worked fallacy to this point. Need your help guy's!!!

Try a fob reset…usually you press and hold lock and unlock at the same time on your fob for 2 or 3 seconds

I wish I knew the answer as it's happening to me too. Happened once when I returned home from a trip. I tried the back-up fob I had and that didn't work either. Couldn't open the hatchback so I called in the back to remove my suitcase. The fob then worked. So I figured the suitcase was causing the door ajar? or was on a sensor? But, today, it happened again when I returned home and wanted to lock the car - worked ok when I first left to unlock it. Hmm. So, again, I crawled around in the back, moved stuff out and away from hatchback. But this time it still doesn't work. Have a 2015 Rav4XLE

I tried that, didn't work.

Same thing happened with me. Someone suggested resetting the fob by pressing the lock and unlock button at the same time for three seconds. I did this out by my car but it didn't work. Later, after the fob warmed up inside - in my handbag, I tried doing it again and only for a second. I heard a beep. Went out by my car, tested lock and unlock and IT WORKED! So, you may want to try that.

You made sure all batteries are up in both fob’s? I know it’s a dumb question but i have bought brand new buttoncell batteries that were dead. Is it a pushbutton start? If it is, you can get the key close to the button and the light should go from red to green, then you know it’s communicating with the ecm/immobilizer. Watch for a “key” light on the dash as well, can sometimes mean your battery is weak in the fob. Another thing ravs will do if they have a slightly weak car battery, the remote start wont function properly. I dont know if that can affect key locks or not.

It's not a push button start.
