What's the largest item you can fit in the rear with the seats down? A toilet? A dishwasher? Stove? Refrigerator? A pig? A goat? A horse? A baby grand?

OK, I'm sure half those objects won't fit, but what's the biggest thing you have fit in the back?

I'm considering one, but it has to fit large objects. Otherwise I might as well stick with my current vehicle.

If cargo space is a priority for you, this is not the vehicle for you. The sloping, styled back and many other little design characteristics sacrifice a lot of practicality vs previous toyota's I've owned. Even my Yaris sedan had more usable space in it when you don't want to stack items to the roof and block your rear view. This seems like the way forward for toyota and their hatchbacks when you take a look at the prius now ( I can't even get in the drivers seat of it vs the previous gen which was so roomy) and even the yaris. At least the yaris still has headroom, but the storage space in the hatch is heavily sacrificed for the look and probably to minimize the amount of material used to construct the vehicle. Toyota's previously known for their smart use of space, are no longer so in the newer ones I've had experience with.

It's really annoying. You can fit a dishwasher inside a 2001 camry, but you cannot fit it through the door. Ask me how I know. That's what's nice about 1980s style cars, is that their boxiness allows you to actually fit what their cubic feet implies.

I think someone did a husky rolling tool box with flat top. Others have transported tv and others.

Honestly, if you have to transport large items often, a rav4 or sienna is the ticket. Or maybe even a corolla cross.

Depends if you need the back seats. Folding them down is the only way to fit anything big.

A toilet? Probably seats down, may need to unbox.
A dishwasher? Doubtful
Stove? No
Refrigerator? Mini fridge maybe.
A pig? A small one
A goat? A small one
A horse? A baby
A baby grand? Yeah...

There's a pic of someone fitting a 48 or 52" Husky tool box but its basically hanging half out. The hatch works best for loading tons of small items you can tetris in.

I did fit some 8' pieces of tile trim but it ran all the way to the passenger footwell.

I rarely ever have passengers in the backseat so seats down gives me what I need.

I had an '01 camry that could fit a whole lot of stuff that way. I helped my mom move, and I fit more file boxes in my car than she did in her Outback. Of course, her Outback could fit a dishwasher easily.

Yea, I'm trying to avoid getting an SUV or crossover. If I'm going to get one of those, I'd probably just go all out and get a Suburban or Tahoe.
