Pano sunroof is trash

I have a 2019 Camry and have had issues with the sunroof for a few years. I’ve taken it in to the dealership and they’ve always minimized the problem just providing lubricants and putting off any real repairs. This year it finally went and when I took it in, without doing any diagnostics, they quoted me $6500 to repair it, stating that this is a common issue they see a lot of.
I spoke with Toyota care and they gave me the run around saying there was nothing they could do.
I’m looking to see if many others have had this issue to see if there is a defect that we can bring to Toyota to force them to address this issue.
Thanks

Sunroof wouldn’t close from vent position from time to time. A week ago it stopped moving entirely. Took it to service and they told me it was a common issue and that the track assembly would need to be replaced for around $6500. I asked to have them diagnose it but they said it would be at my cost. I ended up paying around $200 just to have it closed.

that was my issue when i still had my 18 xse v6. i went ahead and took off the rear headliner to get to the motor and found out that the drive cable broke. since you cannot disassemble the pano roof, you’ll have to get it replaced. i sold it and now have a simple moonroof. closing it was very simple. had to remove the front glass panel, and move the mechanical arms down.

Wish I had known this prior. I paid the premium for the upgrade and now I’ve had to pay over $200 just for them to close it. Toyota wants nothing to do with this now when the design and the product is obviously flawed.

You didn't have to pay your Toyota dealer to close it... Just keep it closed from now on.

I went in when it stopped closing completely. They were calling for rain later that day and I just wanted it fixed. I am keeping it closed but I find it ridiculous that on a 5-6 year old car, I can’t use one of the features that I paid a premium for. And that the repair will cost $7k on a problem that seems so common. Toyota should do something!

its 7k because the entire roof needs to be replaced. The cable itself could of been repairable if they didn't weld panels to cover those tracks. But probably something to do with the structural integrity of the car and blah blah.
