For those who don't have data to burn:

Ignition on (don't start)
Ignition off
Hold wiper stalk up (mist) for 5 seconds.
Wiper arms go straight up, so you can change wiper blades without hood in the way.
When done, ignition on and tap wiper stalk up to exit.

Nice trick. Now to see if it is documented in the owners manual.

Did you change the entire wiper assembly or just the rubber inserts? I really liked how my OEM blades performed, but the dealer I just went to for my 10k service says they no longer sell only the rubber inserts because they may fall off while in use.

Oh, I was just testing how Service Mode worked... car is only 5 months old and California hasn't killed the blades yet.

But for the record... I know Bosch and other silicone wipers are supposed to be awesome, but I always stick with the OEM refills.

Ya, the rubber inserts are tedious to replace, but it works. There is no reason to replace the entire frame when it is in good shape.
Just be careful to note how the insert comes out of the frame, including the notches in the stainless strips, and the direction and orientation of the parts.
Do them one at a time and reassemble the new one exactly as the old one came apart.

The only one I've ever had trouble with and ended up replacing the whole assembly was the rear window on my wife's Rav4... the frame had tabs on both ends that blocked removal of the inserts.

I just replaced the inserts. It took me about 30 mins. Most of that time was figuring out how to get the assembly off the wiper stalks. Once they were off, it was pretty easy disassembling the assembly, swapping in the new inserts, reassembling the assembly, and reinstalling them to the car.

I tested it a few times afterwards, and the difference is clear!
