I like boards if they're installed right and I'm not completely crazy about the looks of the factory ones. I don't think that you should see them sticking out when you're directly behind. Personally, if they made boards that matched the design of the '04 and below, I would be the first in line to buy them. Otherwise, I don't have any on my truck. I like the conform to the body contour look, not the squared off I'm sticking straight out design.

I'll probably be picking up the OEM running boards for my truck... Hard to reach the top of the truck to wash it The OEM ones look pretty clean, and look better than the other running boards I've seen, which always come off as cheap or flimsy looking.

I also love the factory ones pictured above. They have protected my truck from many rock chips, help me when I am washing it and actually look pretty damn good.

 

See... Speedwaydc has his on the way that I think is correct. Look at the wheel as compared to the boards. Some of them I see sticking out beyond the wjheels and it doesn' tllo right.

 

The factory ones can only go on one way. So they should all fit the same.

As for aftermarket ones, each is unique.

 

I really want to see a pic of someone who has the Westin sure grip running boards. Can anyne find a pic of a tacoma with one?

 

i know this thread is about running boards and not nerf bars. but, I can say that my Westin Platinum nerf bars are solid as a rock and super easy to install. I love them. My only issue is the cost. I think all options (boards, bars, etc) are expensive for the use you are likely to get out of them. they really arent that functional b/c the difference in height between the board/bar and the floor of the truck isnt that much. for me, they are more for looks than anything else.

 

The running boards protect the under-side of your truck from rocks. But the Nerf bars or step tubes don't.
