Hello,

I took my car to mechanic today. He said starter and battery needs replacement. He was asking me $550 for all including labor and tax - with cash option.

When I did google search I found that starter is around $100 and battery is $50 to $120 depending on model. He was going to put $50 Magna Power battery.

I am thinking of ordering it online and getting work done somewhere else. If I knew how to replace it myself I would have done that. Anyway.

I want to know what are part numbers for Starter and Battery for 2003 toyota corolla LE model. My VIN number starts with 1NXBR32E73ZXXXXXX

Please help. Thanks !

Any auto part retailer can provide you with the correct fit in 10 seconds on their computer. Unless you want trouble, I'd run away from anybody trying to sell you a 50 dollar battery. The Walmart Everstart Maxx battery is made by Johnson controls and has proven to be a solid performer - and it can be bought (or warrantied if necessary) almost anywhere.

Don't do the $50 battery unless your selling the car tomorrow. You can get a quality battery from Walmart or warehouse clubs like Costco for around $90 that will last three to five years (or more). You can put the battery in yourself if you are remotely mechanical inclined, takes a few minutes. Typically (n the United States) the place that sells the battery will charge you an extra fee on the battery that gets refunded when you turn in the old battery. In my case I purchased a battery from Costco and put it in my car while in the Costco parking lot then turned in the old battery to the Costco Tire Department.

I've always had good results with the Costco Kirkland brand batteries, I actually ended up replacing the corolla battery as I thought I had a battery issue, ended up it was the starter cable was lose.
