My brother had a class 3 U-Haul hitch and wiring installed by U-Haul, it was fine. I would bet that it all depends on the individual dealership and the quality of the employees. I can't believe that installing one on a Tacoma would be much of a tough job if you decide to do it yourself. I can however tell you that the factory trailer wiring include a seperate relay in the power center under the hood.

 

I put a uhaul hitch on my old truck and the quality is great and the prices are usually lower then most other hitches you can find....I'd say go for it!:thumbsup:

 

They are great quality but don't let the minimum wage monkeys install the thing and especially the wiring. Bolt it in yourself and the wiring is not hard. When I went to pick mine up (on a Honda Pilot) the monkeys had wires sticking out of the taillights! I told them immediately "no f'n way".

 

U-Haul hitches are nice and easy to install and for the wiring harness just buy a plug and play one, no need for wire splicing etc...

 

I just had a hitch installed on my XRunner at a U-Haul place in So.Cal.

It was a hitch from Kurt and it is designed to properly fit the XRunner with the X-Brace.

The harness was from Kurt also and it was totally plug-n-play.

I put a Uhaul hitch on my wifes Sienna 4 years ago, piece of cake... But it is rusty as hell now. The reciever is in there permenantly now due to rust in the tube.

 

Always put a little grease on the tow bar, and the ball.

To remove your stuck one, spray with a bit of penetrating oil and smack it a few times with a BFH. If it still doesn't come loose, just find a concrete wall and back it into the wall :thumbsup:
