Using a Jack with my 2013

I was shocked when I went to change the tire on my 2013 Highlander. Where the heck to you put the jack on the rear of an AWD?

There are a couple of things that Toyota skipped over on this generation of Highlander.

The "jack thing" is sort of unforgivable. You could kill yourself! If you are ever stuck changing your own tire, it would be for sure in a difficult situation. There is simply no place to put a jack under a rear wheel on a 2013 series 4WD. You have to lift the entire body until the suspension is fully extended.

BTW- the other thing that makes me crazy is that there is no lighting on the headlight switch, nor the door lock switch. If you pull up to let someone in your car and you need to unlock the passenger door at night -- GOOD LUCK finding the "unlock door" button.

clearly someone didn't look at the manual  Its quite clear there. And most unibodies you have to lift the body to get load off the wheels, this isn't a truck where you put it on an axle.

Put the floor jack under the rear diff carrier, there will be a point that sticks down for it. Below is a FWD, so its simply the rear subframe, but it will look similar and be in the same location as the diff carrier.

And its actually extremely easy to change a tire with the included scissor jack. There is a notch in it for the pinch welds that run below the door. If you look there are 2 notches in front of the rear wheel and behind the front wheel. Simply put the jack there. I use those points for jack stands.
