Oh and the tires have been balanced and alignment done

 

Does it vibrate when you are speeding only or when you are braking?

 

Its both. But they're very distinct. The brake shudder is a bit harder. The vibration at low speeds is more of a shudder. The high speed vibration is pretty bad and when I brake I feel it but only at that speed. Between 35 and 60 or so its hardly noticeable

 

I assume all the wheels are balanced? Most high speed vibrations (above 60mph) are due to unbalanced wheels.

 

I have a 1999 Sienna with 188K+ miles. Just replaced the passenger side axle and wheel bearing. So far it solve my vibration problem.

 

Sorry to pound on it again, but it could be the wheels/tires. I had case where they wrench monkeys did a quick job and pounded a few slugs in my tire after taking it off the balance machine then mounting my tire back on my car without verification that my tire was balanced.

Here is a better question. When did the vibration surface? After the overhaul?

 

toyota sienna 1998 to 2000 ,had some vibration problem and toyota knows it ,even if you change every things in the front you will not fix the problem,the problem is in the transmission where the shaft snap in..............

 

Do you have more information regarding this? I recently bought a used 1999 Sienna and noticed a very slight vibration and pull to the right. The alignment shop said they don't know what it is. Tires checked out ok. No noticeable suspension issues. And alignment is straight.

 

Ah interesting. I believe my father in law has a slight vibration on his 2000. Perhaps it is stemming from this poor issue.

 

What about the wheel bearings hubs?

 

I believe a road force balance is done with the wheels mounted on the car vs removing them.

 

I am having a very similar issue with my 02 Sienna LE and would really like to know if you found a solution to this problem? Did road force balancing fix it? Or was it the transmission/shaft issue that jfm1975 mentioned?

 

Standard tire balance and new tires fixed most of my vibration problems. The rear wheels still shake more than I like but it is not too bad. If your steering wheel still vibrates after wheel balance and alignment, it could be the front suspension bushings. It's not easy to change the suspension bushing though.

 

I rotated my wheels a couple weeks ago and had another alignment done and had my wheels balanced. I am still getting occasional vibrations in my steering wheel above 55 mph but it's no where near as bad as before (this may be the transmission/shaft issue). Strangely enough, my pulling switched sides. Instead of pulling to the right, it now pulls to the left. The shop said they did a visual inspection and the bushings looked worn so they recommended a new PS rack. Yeah, Ok. I kinda thought the bushings were shot so that's on my list of things to do. Not an easy job but someone's gotta do it. Once I get the alignment fixed, I'll be able to start figuring out the steering wheel shake.

 

What kind of balancing did you have done - road force or standard? If road force, then what did they find?

 

standard balancing with the wheels off the car. I'm thinking it's not the wheels either way since the wheels on the front now were on the back before and it's still doing the same thing, just not as bad.

 

If it improved by moving the tires front to rear, then a road force balance should be investigated. Road force balance is done with the wheels off the car. My tire shop did the road force balance for free when I told them the I thought the tires were defective. Normally they only charge $5.00 extra a tire.
