Hi

I have 2020 Carolla, I got this message "Voltage ubnormality, steering power low" anyone faced the same issue and find a resolution?

Any aftermarket accessories installed? Have you boosted the battery recently? Have you taken it to a dealer?

First thing you can check is EPS fuse - possibly blown. Next check the battery and charging/alternator. If fuse is OK and battery/charging, you will need to take it to a dealer as other things point to EPS itself...

I haven't had this message, but I did notice that after idling for probably 20 minutes, showing my brother my audio setup (which isn't particularly high power, only about 20A), the interior lights dimmed noticably when I turned the wheel. my guess is the super low idle when the AC is off, means that the alternator doesn't put out much at idle.
Did this message occur after sitting in the car a while with the car in accessory mode or at idle with something like the hvac fan or rear defroster running for a bit of time? both of these are surprisingly heavy loads on the battery when sitting still if the engine isn't spinning fast enough for the car to charge much.

Mine will say this whenever I stall the car, but the steering performance is not effected and the messages disappears after a few minutes. Does this message stay on for you while you drive, and can you feel any difference in the steering?

Cars have become too complex. Sometimes hydraulics and analog electronics are better than microcontrollers doing absolutely everything, and giving error messages only dealers can read with proprietary software.

Were you doing anything at the time that may have prompted it? things like running the rear window defrosters at idle are a pretty heavy load, so it is possible the car battery could have been somewhat discharged.
were you sitting parked or stationary when this message came up, or were you driving around?
does the car show any hesitation at all when starting, or does it crank to life instantly? any hesitation more than what you are used to could indicate the 12V battery is getting weak.

If it happened only once and there is some logical cause to tie it to, like running the defrosters and the fan full blast with the car idling, I wouldn't worry too much about it. if it happens more than once, go to an auto parts store and ask if they can test your battery. generally they'll hook up their meter and print out a little report that shows the state of health of the battery, which is the cranking amps their tool thinks your battery is capable of compared to what the label on the battery says it is capable of new. They'll even do this without having to buy a battery from them.

if it turns out you need a battery, I'd recommend checking costco or sam's club or a similar wholesale store if you are a member of one. they generally have much better prices on batteries than auto parts stores or dealerships, and they might even install the battery for you. if they won't, it is not difficult as long as you match the red battery cable with the + on the new battery and the black or uncovered terminal with the - on the new battery.

My 2021 RAV4 TRD just did this. I was sitting in the car with it on Accessory with the fans on (not ac) but I believe the heated seats were also on for about 20 minutes. Steering wheel locked, brake pedal locked, won't start at all - but all lights and stuff come on (window roll up slow tho). I'm going to let it sit for an hour or so, shut off all accessories, and see if it will start. If it starts I'll run it a while to charge battery - but at under 20k miles it WILL be going in to the dealership in the next couple of days. I just hope it doesn't leave me Ubering this afternoon. I love this dam vehicle. This is the first trouble I've had. :( I PROMISE to update.

First Update - it started fine after sitting about 90 minutes. This means battery is holding charge and I probably sucked all the juice with accessories on (not running) on my earlier break. I have appointment at dealership tomorrow - however, if it runs fine on the way home I will take it to dealership at a later date as tomorrow is not convenient if it doesn't HAVE to go.

***NOTE TO SELF AND OTHERS - DO NOT USE ACCESSORY MODE WITHOUT ENGINE RUNNING. Even 10 minutes can kill the battery depending on the bells and whistles running (heat seats, fans, lights, etc).

2nd Update: turns out the "power steering" indication was only because the wheel was cranked because I had just pulled into a parking spot and didn't straighten it out - so steering locked due to low power. Wasn't anything wrong with the power steering. So - long story short "voltage abnormality, power steering low" is VERY likely ToyotaSpeak for: you left your vehicle in accessory mode with too many gadgets running and battery is low. Let it sit for a while and it should start fine - then drive it a while to be sure battery is fully charged.

Having the same issue but mine gives
Voltage
Abnormality
Steering Power Low
When I try to make turn or it goes over 30 mph and when I shut off the engine ether I’m lucky it has battery or it completely shut off and have to jump start it and gives me ruff start with engine shaking.

What year and model is your Corolla? What mileage are you at, and do you still have the original battery?

Mine just did this. I was sitting listening to the end of a podcast when the car died with this message. It's 2024 with less than 10k on it. This is ridiculous. I tried to restart, it did for a second before dying again. Calling Toyota.
