For me:

Lack of power.
Heavy
5-spd transmission has a very close-ratio gearbox. Wished it had a sixth to help it with mpg.
Lack of hydraulic lifters for the hood. That hood alone is weighing the car down a lot. I can probably get Hulk arms if I lift up the hood up and down for 30 minutes each day for a month.

Other than that, it's a solid car.

I was wondering if this was some sort of Toyota standard??? I didn't mention all the little things I don't like about the car because all cars have them and I didn't want to nit-pick.
At the time, yes.

However, if you look deep inside the Toyota Accessory Catalog, you can actually get an optional electric remote trunk release with the RS3200 VIP Security System. I never bothered.

From gen5, I believe the trunk release button was standard on the fob.

I've learned to live with a lot of the things I used to dislike about my camry, BUT...

I think I can come up with a few still ;)

1994 5S-FE 4 door LE

1 - Under-powered. This is self-explanatory.
2 - Stock brakes really suck.
3 - Stock suspension REALLY sucks.
4 - Outer door handle design is bad.

All things considered, it's still a tough, mpg saving ride, so I can't complain too much.

i have a 94 LE it doesnt feel under powered to me

The main reason why the car feels underpowered for me is because it's night and day compared to my FX. 280hp compared to 135hp....a big jump. For the size of this car, the engine is mainly just to get you from point A to point B, but how fast...that wasn't in the equation, which is the reason why I like it. Gets me place to place without cringing at the gas tank levels every other day.

I don't like alot of things about my Camry. For one it is wayy underpowered, the 4sp auto is sluggish in its shifts, though it is smooth which is a plus. Cheap interior, especially the door panels, dash and headliner. Less than average fuel ecomony for cars of its similar year and type (1998), Deck brake light is hard to remove and put back in due to the slope of the rear window. Same with trying to deal with the rear speakers, rear window slope is too steep.

I dislike the interior and exterior. They don't last nearly as long as the engine.

i've been driving my gen 4 for about half a year now, i liked it when i first got it (compared to the 94 previa i crashed)
but as i got myself onto TN and as i learned more about cars, i found things that i don't like about my ride:
1. not enough power. i dont think i need to add anything on that
2. it's a 4 speed auto. it's hard to pass cars when on highway. i cant shift down to get more power (well, flooring it shifts down but... there's a time lag), and i cant shift up to keep the rev down when im on highway driving around speed limit
3. 14 inch stock wheels. who uses 14 inch wheels now? it's hard to find decent tires for the car and i dont have $$$ to get bigger wheels...
4. 4 speakers... well its not really an issue for me because i can't really tell the difference between my stock speakers and the bang and olufsen my friend has on her 335i, but i do appreciate if i can get 6 or 8 speakers without taking the car apart to add more sound
5. the seats. the front seats are not so comfy when drive for a long time. (when i drive from hollywood to san diego i have to stop quite a few times to stretch my legs and my back, wasnt a problem when i was driving from lansing, mi to chicago, il in my friend's bimmer)
6. the radio. no AUX in... i have to use a cassette transmitter to play my ipod
7. no fog light.
8. no DRL.
9. steering wheel too big.
10. it's too common... i can find at least 10 gen 4 camrys in my school parking lot whenever i go to school. doesn't stand out!
11. it's not a chick magnet... well, how could a family sedan without any body kit or exterior modification (other than the blackened taillights and wheel hubs) be a chick magnet
12. the handling is not to my expectation... suspension too soft, steering wheel is not as hard as i like.
13. the carpet floor mats get dirty easily. fixed that issue with water-resistant ones.
14. chip is not set-able.

well, things i do like about the ride: (just throw it here... i dont want to create the impression that i hate my car hahaha):
1. good fuel economy. i get a 25 combined mpg on average, it's not bad for a car that old
2. it's a car that takes me from point A to point B
3. it's not a police magnet.
4. the stereos doesnt produce weird sounds when i play my music really loud
5. so far the car's operating pretty smooth (other than the blue smoke when i start it after letting it sit for hours)
6. it's good to haul asses. well, it's not crowded to haul 3 girl friends when they visited from michigan (though it's hard to drive at the speed i usually drive without flooring the accelerator)
7. double 12V outlets. i can hook one with a radar detector and another with a converter for GPS, ipod, and car cam. i dont know how i am going to connect these stuff on new cars with one 12V outlet in the center console.

5. the seats. the front seats are not so comfy when drive for a long time. (when i drive from hollywood to san diego i have to stop quite a few times to stretch my legs and my back, wasnt a problem when i was driving from lansing, mi to chicago, il in my friend's bimmer)

Try driving from SF bay area to San Diego without stopping. :naughty: Just put it on cruise and sit indian style all the way there.

im pretty sure ill fall asleep, thats why i dont use cruise that often... gotta just sprint (or try to) pass some cars on the freeway to make me stay awake.

The fact that I could never get it to idle smoothly despite pristine maintenance, tunes ups, fuel injector cleaners, quality gas.

Recall reading one of the threads here that it is a systemic problem in the 5sfe engine possibly related to the ballance shafts.

Runs great otherwise (except for right now sitting in my garage with a major oil leak I can't trace).

title explains it, but dont include things that are broke like "i dont like how my cars power windows dont work"

What I don't Like?

Toyota, almost totally ignored this car, its best selling car for almost a (human) generation, in its TRD operations for North America, while many car companies simply built REAL Special Editions, or engineered great factory stuff to add to their sedans.

If they had made more TRD stuff, we would have a much easier time tuning and tweeking these cars with great factory stuff today.

ok i wanted to hear what you guys said first, but these really are minor things compared to other cars

1. Not enough interior lighting, 1 dome light and thats it
2. Not all switches are lighted, makes finding the right button annoying
3. steering wheel vibration on 4 cyl
4. seats not the best, but not the worst
5. armrest too far back on ones with the handbrake
6. no fog light available
7. oil filter next to exhaust manifold, haven't got burned yet though lol
