Castrol import for almost 20k miles with no issues. I would have used T-IV but it wasn't available to me.

Castrol Import for almost 2 kilometers! No issues The dealer brand is not even full synthetic, some people say it is not necessarely the best!

 

amsoil signature series in autos. redline is manuals.

amsoil transformed the infamous cd4e tranny in my old ford escape. wouldn't even shift into OD when i bought it (and still wouldn't even after a complete flush with fresh mercon fluid) and shifted like new after putting in the amsoil.

 

I have been using Amsoil ATF multi-vehicle fluid without issue for the last 60k miles at least. The last time I did a drain & fill was 2-3 years ago. Amsoil ATF claims to meet T-IV standards.

Before Amsoil, I used Mobil ATF3309, which is basic T-IV (not multi-vehicle). But that stuff is really hard to get. I had to go to a Mobil distributor. Not worth the hassle when I can buy the Amsoil locally for little more money. At the time I noticed that the ATF3309 was packaged in identical bottles to the Toyota T-IV being sold at the dealer. I mentioned to the distributor that it appears that Mobil is the bottler of the Toyota OEM. The distributor said, "You figured it out."

 

Same deal with the oil. Exact same bottles.

 

Castrol import for 73,000 miles miles with no issues. FIrst fluid and filter change at 50k and a drain & refill at 100k. Will drain & refill again @ 150,000 mi with Castrol Import.

 

I was able to get Toyota T-IV fluid at Carquest for $4.50 a bottle, but I see it's $6.19 a quart now. I will probably go with Valvoline Maxlife next time based on Hardtope72's high recommendations. I did a complete flush last time and it made a difference in the shifting to make it feel more crisp I guess you would say.

 

I replaced it with Valvoline Maxlife ATF. Gotta do 2 more drain and refills.

 

The fluid was blacker than dirt. I'll probably end up doing 4 drain 4 refills.

 

Just change all you fluid, and do it once.

 

ummm, yeah. How do you do that without a flush?
