I need to replace my 2016 battery locates in the trunk. It died after not driving the car for awhile. I tried charging it and it won’t hold. Battery - Toyota (28800-28100)

Yes and no.
You have 2 batteries in the trunk. One is auxiliary 12V battery that feeds electronics. One is hybrid battery. Engine is started by hybrid battery, specifically, by motor generator 1, that acts as generator or starter, as required.
12V battery is charged off hybrid battery. Hybrid battery is safeguarded, so if it falls down on charge to a pre determined low level, it will stop charging 12V, to preserve itself.
All in computers, friends, all in computers. Forgot how many, 17 or 21 processing units.

Interesting, so any suggestions on how to buy the replacement?

I had a 2014 Camry Hybrid, bought used. Never knew why, but it had a replacement (standard 24F) battery.
You can pay $260+ at the $tealer for a Panasonic 24F AGM battery, or as little as $80 for a standard 24F at Costco. The AGM might last 10 years with luck, Standard probably 5 years. "You pays your money and you takes your chances." Key is whether the battery has vents to let out hydrogen gas, and other fumes. The Camry has a vent system for the battery - some plastic tubes that lead outside the trunk. Hook new battery up to terminals and to vent system and you're done.

VENT SYSTEM: Mechanic who noticed "wrong battery" inspecting used car for me, before purchase, said that batteries (both Standard and AGM!) let out gases that -trapped inside trunk- can corrode electrical connections in that pricey "traction battery". Have a look here for some detail:

Did you find replacement for the Toyota (Panasonic 28800-28100) AGM battery. I need same OEM Panasonic replacement battery for my 2012 Camry LE Hybrid. I refuse to pay the $330+ to dealer again, but all local parts stores don't have applicable AGM replacement and all web searches I've done so far have not provided a cheaper replacement option. Please respond. Thanks!

You don't need an AGM battery, but if you insist on AGM, they're being marketed by Bosch, Chanpion, Ford, Autozone house brand, WalMart Everstart, etc., etc.
Look for a size 24F which fit my 2014 perfectly, terminals located toward rear of battery, Right side Negative, Left side - has red cover for terminal - Positive.

I don't want to start another thread, so wife got into her 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and it was telling her to put it in PARK, when it was. Nothing when she pushed the start button. Gearshift wouldn't move if I remember correctly. She couldn't get it going, so I took her place, and after a while it started. Does this look to be a symptom of the 12V auxiliary battery going bad?, If she makes it home, I will remove and have it tested. Then decide if I should go OEM like I did for my daughters Prius, or go another way. But I am really an OEM guy.

Also, if she needs to be jumped, can she have Autoclub come out, and open her trunk, and jump that Auxiliary Battery under that cover on the right?

No. You do not jump at 12V.
It is jumped via fuse box under the hood. It has large nut in the center, or copper bus. That's (+). Next, any known good ground on the engine.
Yes, you can do it.
What year is your car?

Any voltage below 11.7 is considered unacceptable by Toyota.
The person you're replying to said they have a 2012 TCH. You do jump at the 12v in the trunk for the 2012 TCH. Just had to do it the other day. See page 461 of the manual: https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM33A41U/pdf/OM33A41U.pdf

My '14 Camry hybrid had no obvious jump-start points under-hood. I was surprised, since a 90's convertible with trunk-mounted battery I once owned had under-hood jump-start points.
Save a dime here and a full dollar there, it adds up even on low volume cars like to hybrids.
