Ok guys my friend thinks he’s faster which one is faster a 2000 Toyota Camry le v6 or a 2010 Honda Civic ex-l??

When dropped from an aircraft, they will fall at the same speed.

These old Camrys are surprisingly light, compared to newer cars. A quick Google search:

2000 Camry V6 weight = 3175 lbs
HP = 194

2010 Civic EX-L weight = 2750 lbs
HP = 140

Plugging those numbers into this online 1/4 mile ET estimator gives:
Camry ET = 14.789 seconds
Civic ET = 15.717 seconds

Those are crude estimates, as it's more complicated than that. But with close to a full second margin, there's not much doubt.

Wear and tear on the engine too will account for longer/slower acceleration too. Gas efficiency also taken into effect too. newer cars also have a more efficient Automatic compared to the rather ancient 4spd in these Camry.

Honestly though...these are just numbers and probably won't be enough to end the 'I think I'm faster'. Go find a legal drag strip and see if you and your friend can drag it out. It'll be an interesting match though I think.

Has people stopped googling?

So V6 Camry actually ties with same year Civic Si. Now you can ask the EXL to eat dirt, or dust. Haha.

Seriously, Honda's peaky engine don't do very well in racing from standstill. It does much better in illegal street racing where peaky HP counts more. For normal people daily driving V6 crushes Civic, Si or not.

That...assuming the OP has a V6 5spd :)

I have a 12 Civic Ex in the family, so this reply is based on actual experience and not just a google search. The non-SI Civic is completely gutless. The advertised 140HP come on for about half a second when the engine goes into lift above 6k before a shift like 500rpm later.

My 99 4 Cylinder (NOT even a V6) with 150 ftlbs of torque and 133 rated hp feels much, much faster as it has more power over a much broader RPM range. Remember, peak HP is just the peak and only tells you part of the story.

Civic SI is a different animal with a much wider VTEC lift range that actually makes it useful, but the LX/EX is a complete joke. Heck, a 2013 Civic SI had no problem passing me in my 2002 Celica GT-S (180HP, ~2600lbs) on the racetrack (Lime Rock), and I'm sure would completely spank a Gen4 V6 Camry with 180HP or whatever it is.

Where did the SI come into play?? Didn't the OP mention a ex-l? I mean of course if you step outside the parameters, any car could beat another.

But in the end, I don't think it matters which car, it's about the driver.

Plus, I've dusted my friend in my 85 camry 2.0l dlx 5spd and he was in a 2000 Mitsubishi lancer 2.0l 5spd. He also tried me when I had a 95 v6 LE, same story.

But really, why are we even worried, the Honda is a loaded grenade, one to many peak HP and the TB breaks. Problem solved, Camry wins lol
