2019 XSE 2.5 Toyota Camry Transmission Problem

So after driving my car for the last 3 weeks I’ve noticed some strange rpm issues in the morning and couldn’t figure out why because the car will run perfectly fine after that. I took it to the dealership to check and told me that they got an error code “P07457F” which means one of the solenoids in the transmission is stuck. I asked them why couldn’t they replace the piece which is around $300 and they told me that these transmissions can’t be rebuilt/repaired only replaced. Which will run me exactly $7021 (parts and labor) So my question is to you guys are they telling the truth or they are trying to get 7 grand out of me instead of fixing a $300 piece?

Sounds like hogwash to me.

Call Toyota HQ and another dealer to see if this is covered under the 96-month, 80K-miles Federal Emissions warranty. And it involves software update. I see one TSB for Lexus but not for Camry, but anyway, have a look:

here's a TSB for the 2019 Camry hesitation issue:

Also, get a 2nd opinion from a well-reviewed ATRA Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Assoc member shop:

That said, early years of the Ua80e/Ub80e transmissions are problematic.

It's just my guess but I think you should add cost of removal front bumper, radiator, radiator fan, air filter housing to get access to the valve body cover. Then remove that cover and valve body assembly and after that you can replace the faulty solenoid (see steps #8,9,10).

Before I let Toyota charge that much, I would find a good local shop and ask for a quote. A friend of mine has a Nissan Pathfinder and dealers wanted I think around $5500, and a local shop ordered a trans from Nissan and installed it for (I think) $1200 cheaper, and gave a much longer warranty. Still. it is a lot to pay out for a car that is not that old.

Scary times when service departments no longer want to do service, and instead only replace full assemblies

Why fix the tranny when we can charge you $7k for a new (reman) one, and it takes less time for us?

Dealer service of the future - oooh looks like your front brakes are worn, can I interest you in a new Camry?

This sucks. Just replaced the head gasket in my 2019 xse and spent almost 3k on that. Now at 85k miles my check engine light comes on and I my mechanic says that my transmission is pretty much done. I’m not even done paying the car off and I’m having all these problems. I took very good care of my car, kept up with regular maintenance and this stuff just seems like I’m getting robbed. I thought Toyotas were supposed to be reliable?

After my water pump went out shorty after is when I started noticing that my car would run differently. My car would randomly say that it was over heating but when I would pull over and check the engine it wasn’t even hot. I would just restart it and it would run normally. But this time the check engine came and checked the codes out and the only thing that came back was that cylinder 1 and 2 were misfiring. But it was the transmission I guess
