i have a question for you guys, what is the difference between the 4afe and 7afe other than the liter. is both engine identical, are you able to swap in a 7afe into a 4afe with ease, im pretty sure the ecu is different, is the engine harness also different, any different in sensors, or is it a plug and play setup between the two. if you guys can be specific about the differences i would really appreciated, thanks.

hey ypu guys are hmong too... nice hmoob yaaj here... LoL! i know this thread is old, im just bored rite now but yeah... if you want, id say build a 7a block with a GE or GZE setup with it, and run turbo, but IMHO since we are hmong ppl this car is more for commuting and trying to show something different at fresno new years... LoL! but yeah the 7a is a better setup than the 4a is... like a d15 and a b18 something like that, but since you dont have a honda. its sad that were using honda as examples for our beloved toyotas...

Manual, yes. Auto, no. 4A-FE came with a 3 speed auto that was mechanically controlled, 7A-FE had an electronically controlled 4 speed. Not swappable unless you want to do a lot of work. Manual transmission is identical between the two.

EDIT: To answer your question more literally, yes the auto transmissions will fit on either engine. They just won't work without a new engine computer and wiring.

Don't assume you need to fully fund/loan yourself. When you have some spare time you should check out options for stipends and scholarships. Find a mentor who can guide you. I'm green to this area as my degree is in business and information management - but seek out someone who knows and can spend some time with you, even if it's unrealistic financially to undertake immediately. Knowing your options and enablers early on will make it much easier to plan for it to actually happen.

Life happens fast - and once you get a steady job with a steady pay check it takes a real plan to leave that behind and go get educated, otherwise it's just something on your wish list and that's where it'll stay :)

The "one step at a time" plan almost always fails at accomplishing big goals. You need to plan the journey first, and then focus on the individual steps once you know where you're going and why you're doing it.

And that just about sums up the differences between the 4A-FE and the 7A-FE.

I got through UCSB's ME programme with part-time job and student loans. Should've gone to SLO as they're more hands-on and applied. Regardless, it can be done. You can also apply for scholarships and grants. Lots of opportunities out there.

There are also companies that you can work for that'll fund college. The Navy also have programmes that'll pay and you'll only have to work for them for 2-years. Look up GI bill and related.

As the others said, set up a plan and roadmap. You'll find that breaking things down into smaller steps makes it much easier and won't look so daunting.

What really matters is being able to support yourself, and then acquire wealth. Use the wealth wisely, and it will keep you from needing to have a job. There are probably more ways to accomplish this without an ejuka$hun, than there are with one. And if you're ever going to make a sacrifice like working 80 hours a week,in order to get ahead, the best time is when you're young. It sucks as bad then, as it does when you're old, but your body is more up to the task.

Wow. Disraeli Gears...

Saludos!!

The difference is in the CC, what else? Well, it has 132mm longer connecting rods and the crankshaft is different, also the piston heads have a slight difference, the crankshaft pinion is different since it uses the crankshaft position sensor and the block also has the detonation sensor ...

That is what I can tell you that it brings differently according to my experience with my 7A-FE .....

I hope my comment helps you.

Greetings!!

Translated to help out.

Only later 7A and 4A have a crank position sensor, earlier ones were all in the distributor. I think later models got sequential fuel injection too instead of paired injection.

Solo los posteriores 7A y 4A tienen un sensor de posición del cigüeñal, los anteriores estaban todos en el distribuidor. Creo que los modelos posteriores también recibieron inyección secuencial de combustible en lugar de inyección pareada.
