Alarm stickers: yes or no?

I had an Avital 2 way alarm installed in my truck. (Avital/Viper/Python/Clifford are all essentially the same alarms with different packaging, all produced by Directed Electronics, Inc.)

Should I put the Avital stickers in the windows to let them know I have a good alarm installed (and not a dummy blinking led), or keep them guessing?

I still have the Toyota stickers that came with the truck on my windows. I'll take them off at some point, just haven't gotten around to it. If something valuable is visible through the window a thief will break in alarm sticker or not. It doesn't take long to steal something out of a car and unless it's two-way you won't even know until you hear it or check on it later. Keep it off because those stickers generally lead a thief to think that you are trying to protect something valuable

Stickers can deter some thieves and attract others, however as mentioned, if they really want your truck or your possessions then they're going to get in there regardless. I would never put a sticker advertising the brand of alarm I have in my vehicle, but I'm going to be putting these stickers on my two rear windows when I get my new alarm installed this week:

I bought a two-way system. My installer advises NO.

Giving away the brand makes someone who knows what they are doing "armed" with the brand, and therefore the info to help disable.

Depends on what you think your alarm is for.

As everyone posted - "smash & grab" - doesn't matter - 30 sec & their gone with your stuff if you foolishly left it visible. Alarms arn't for that kind of waste of skin, err I mean thief.

If the purpose is to make the vehicle proofed from a thief attempting to overcome the factory engine immobiliser & bypass and then drive away, then I sure wouldn't want to make their job any easier by advertising what brand is inside. Good luck finding my bypass ;). (Custom installer + mod to really make it nasty for them)

And no I don't have any stickers. But I do get the insurance di$count anyway :D
