Hey guys, Just wanted to let you know that I have become a believer. I will be offering Amsoil, Mothers, Trico, NGK products to anyone who is interested.

I recently changed my oil from Mobil 1 10w30 with oem toyota filter to the amsoil 10w30 and the amsoil synthetic oil filter. Right after I put the oil in and started the engine I noticed that the mild bearing knock I had during cold starts is all but eliminated. After 3,000 kms, I still have a full sump of oil, and it is much cleaner. Im getting about an extra 40km/ >20 litres(i always put 20 bux a day to goto school and back home)

Anyway since it is cheaper than mobil 1, and from the tests ive seen MUCH better. Its atleast worth a shot. let me know if anyone is interested and I will get you some pricing etc.

...unless of course....you're willing to help out the community by selling AT cost...then you can skip the vendor request and just help us all out ;)

i used Amsoil in my Grand Prix for years...only reason is because i got it under cost from a friend that's a dealer.

Though i still use it religiously in my snowmobiles. Best stuff around for them.

You guys really dont want to help me sell this stuff! Ive seen quite a bit of information that says that amsoil is pretty good stuff, and through my personal experience and co workers agree. Id be very interested if you disagree! please elaborate

Advertise locally..there are a TON of people that distribute it all over...I use it in my snowmobiles...i'm not saying it's the devil and no one should ever use it. It's all about personal preference and experience.

.... I'm in Brampton and due for an oil change. I was thinking of going Synthetic solely because I hate changing oil in the winter, too COLD.

I want more information on this "Amsoil" and how it may protect my 96 Maxima.

I use strictly Amsoil on all my cars. Not all synthetics are made equal, especially the Mobil1 crap that just burns off and sludge shit up for no reason. I've tried tons of brands, from Quaker, Havoline, Valvoline, skip the crap, basically all the off the shelf stuff you can buy. Each time I drain the oil out of my Camry (it demands quality oil due to high cylinder pressures, rich fuel mixtures, and water/meth injection), all those oil are crap. All thinned out, broken down and smells like shit. I've also tried Motul, Redline and Royal Purple. Those are way better than off the shelf brands, but Amsoil did noticeably better from my personal results.

I get a lot of cars here on the dyno, and interestingly, Amsoil have always kept cooler oil temps, and you can hear the difference just after an oil change. I use their 10w40 "AMO" on my Camry and Supra, and currently the new 0w30 for my IS300 in the winter.

Here's a pic of "Mobil 1 crap that just burns off and sludge shit up for no reason" after 221,000 miles...

I now have 243,000 miles on it now and it still looks the same (brand new). There is still honing marks in the bores that last time I checked to...

Another good quality PAO-based synthetic to consider for Canadians is ESSO Extra XD-3, in 0W30 or 0W40 grades. Either that or German Castrol Syntec 0W30. I'm currently using XD-3 0W40.

I agree that Mobil 1 is not what it used to be, it's merely a hydrocracked Group III oil now. I ran some of their 10W30 over the summer in my daily driver over a long oil change interval of over 10000km and have noticed the thinning aspect that Tony mentioned. More vibration and louder noise from the engine and once I did get around to changing the oil, there was hardly any left. And this is on a completely stock car. It's surprising how so many people are still using it without knowing the complete story behind Mobil 1.

I'd have to agree with tony. If I was driving a corolla or my sisters matrix, I would just put whatever in it. But its for the fact that if you drive a high performance vechicle, you need an high performance oil.

This is the type of varnish, and build up that you can expect after running a motor with mobil 1. This is why I don't use it anymore. It's a 2.0l 3sgte only making 297awhp. im sure the matrix would be fine running on it.
