Hey all,
Looking for some fun cheap* things I can get done to my car before going in deep and spending money on tunes/exhaust systems etc.

I know the Jetta GLI has various OBD tools you can plug to personalize various features of the GLI. Is there anything of sorts for the Camry SE?

If not, anyone have an recommendations on cheap little mods I can do before I dive into buying expensive taillights and such?

Thanks. I like how that one actually lists the personalization’s you can do. Saved me $150. Not much personalization that you already can’t do through the radio. Guess I’m going to pass on that mod 😂 was hoping there was an option to allow me to lock the car while running and having the fob in my pocket.

Oh there's a LOT that you can do that you can't do through the HU.
What's available will vary from model to model, but on my Avalon, I increased the hysteresis on the display switching from day to night mode to make it less likely to switch to night when passing under a bridge, shut off the audible seat belt alarms (I'll still get a ping from the driver side on startup), bump the "lane change" turn signal from 3 to 7 flashes (could do that on the display on my '16 Corolla, but it's not available on the Avalon or Venza).

The attached PDF is the full list of what Techstream can do, Carista can do most of them.

For performance, the $20-$80 "plug and play" OBD "chips" like the Eco-Tune are a scam.

oh nice, it would be amazing if there was a way to keep the radio always on the blue and black night theme instead of it switching to the ugly blue and white during the day. Maybe I’ll shop around and take the risk 😁
As for tuners I certainly wouldn’t cheap out, that’s a whole nother paycheck 😂

Ive called before to no avail. My 2018 SE apparently only comes with remote start if I reside in the US, not Canadian models. Which still pisses me off to this day. I don't see the majority of US citzens starting their car in -30 in just a tshirt and boxers straight outta bed like I do but whatever lol.

I've been reading through the description of Carista, and can it actually do some modding of the system? I've had some hit-and-miss results over the years with different apps/systems. I've got a few things I'd like to tweak and was wondering how well it works from those that have used it.

I went back in to the Carista app and looked around a bit, and changed the setting that allows windows down with the fob, a mod the dealer was more than willing to do for me for $50. $9.95 for a one month subscription to the app, and that change (along with a few others) was easily made. I already had the OBD adapter (which was considerably cheaper when I purchased it) so there was no cost there.
