G'day,

Greetings from Australia. I was wondering if anyone has converted a FWD Camry to AWD, as I've always wanted an AWD SV21 but wouldn't know where to start since there's pretty much no all-trac Camry's other than Corollas in the Australian market from what I can gather. I've always thought about using the AE95/E90 all-trac rear floor pan w/running gear or even a Camry all-trac rear floor pan/running gear imported from the states?

Cheers.

No one has every done it because it's extremely complex and expensive. It would be easier and cheaper to find a car somewhere on the planet and ship it to your house.

I believe the AE95 rear end is a solid axle... Not at all compatible with an OEM Camry/Celica Alltrac/GT4 rear end.

The floorpan from the firewall back to the rear bumper (including the bumper beam!) is different between a FWD and AWD Camry. There are driveshaft mounts in the tunnel, a bump-out for the exhaust on the (US) passenger side, all the subframe mounts and a rear gas tank location (with a higher trunk floor) that all have to be accounted for.

You can probably hack something together from Celica GT4 parts (more available where you are, I assume), similar to what some guys with Celicas do, but to get it to OEM spec requires a HUGE amount of parts - basically the whole car from the firewall back.
