You can swap any wheels to anything else that fits. Whether or not the who you buy from lets you is a different matter.

I am buying a 2019 Highlander Limited and do not like the look of the Chromtec wheels. Has anyone successfully swapped them out for a different rim? I like the XLE or SE rims.

It doesn't really matter if someone else was able to swap them for free. Each dealer will decide that for themselves.

Just put a handwritten clause in the sales contract, and initial it, and get the sales manager to initial it, before you sign it. They will either do it, not do it, or charge you extra. If you are willing to take rims off a demo model, that might help convince them.

Rims from any 3rd gen Highlander will work. Make sure to get 19s if you want to reuse your tires.

I bought my '16 used. It was immaculate except that three of the four Chromtecs were rashed up. Dealer gave me enough of a discount to cover a set of take-offs from an '18 SE. They're on the car now and look great.

 

You should bargain with the dealer. I bought a 2018 Highlander Limited. I liked the look of the Chromatec wheels until I realized they were plastic. I bargained to get the SE wheels in charcoal gray. Best decision I made.
