If you unlock your doors to get in and don't actually open them they will automatically lock again. Its one of the features of the car. But it won't actually lock the car automatically once you leave, you'll have to do that yourself.

It doesn't look to sense for the trunk since you can't actually lock it I guess.

 

Can I turn off that auto lock? I know how to adjust when it locks when the car is moving and such.

 

I don't think so as it is a security feature to lock the doors automatically after 60 seconds if they were unlocked with the remote and no door was physically opened. Check with you dealership to see if they can program this as there is no user option to do this that I know of.

 

Leave the windows down and it will auto-lock too.

Looks like on the non-navigation models, it has to be turned off by a dealer.

you are right. thanks for the correction. for non-nav unit, they have to go to the dealer. i got the nav & that's why i was able to change mine. never knew about the window. does it have to be all the way down or will a small gap trigger the auto lock too?

Great, and thanks for the information. So my next question, and I will have to try tomorrow with the spear key at the ready, is will the car lock with the keys in the that car?

 

That is also a feature my last two cars had as well as the Camry. If you have the smart key fob (push button start) no the doors will not lock if the car senses the key fob inside the vehicle. Im not sure if the same is true if you dont have push button start / key fob.
