So I have read that 94-99 Celica GT front calipers will bolt up to my Gen 2 knuckle so I picked up a pair on eBay just moments ago. I'm really hoping to get a definitive answer and hopefully some pics of this swap already done.

I would like to know as well. I have some calipers from a 1992 Celica GTS, which will work with the bigger V6 wagon rotors. But I don't know if this would be equivalent to the swap you're talking about.

I believe the pistons on the 92 are a couple mm larger and the pads are taller instead of wider, or the other way around. I had pulled some a while back from a 92 body GT for mine but it seemed like the only real difference was the pad size in one direction so I waited for some larger Celica fronts.

The pistons on the 1992 GTS are actually smaller than the Camry ones. The caliper brackets on the Celica GTS are effectively the same as the wagon V6 ones, although they look slightly different. The Celica rotor barely clears the Camry backplate. The Celica/wagon pads are taller than the other Camry pads.

I'll try and find rotor diameter for the various rotors, where's a good site to look?

K this is what I found out:

Gen2 Camry with ABS or wagon
Overall Diameter MM : 275
Overall High MM : 48.5
THK : 25

1990-1993 Celica GT/GTS
Overall Diameter MM : 277
Overall High MM : 46.3
THK : 25.1

1994-1999 Celica GT/GTS
Overall Diameter MM : 274.9
Overall High MM : 49.6
THK : 28.1

I'm still thinking the 99 is a better choice performance wise, it's not like Toyota would put brakes on a newer model that don't stop better than the last model...right?

I still have the BEAMS Celica front brake calipers... 2-pot, fit on the stock '94-'99 US Celica GT rotors... They are too big to fit under the stock 14" basket weave wheels on the white Alltrac, otherwise I'd use 'em. *hint hint* for anyone looking at upgrading brakes.

Oh, and you can use the DBA Australia website to look up a good number of brake disks, but not all of them.

I'd buy them off of you for sure but it will probably cost a small fortune to ship here considering how heavy they are. How about give me an approximate weight and I'll calculate shipping.

Well I got by rear bushings in a day late, of course there's only one set for I believe the bottom of the rear hub and the lower arm it attaches to.And received all four of my new wheel bearings.

nogard had dibs on them at the moment - I'll let you know if that falls through. He just has to empty out his PM box! ha. I also want to re-verify that they are a perfect bolt-on to the Camry (either tonight or over the weekend). I'm like 95% sure, but I don't want to send them out and have to deal with taking them back (shipping something heavy twice).

The shoes were nearly worn out when I did the rear disc swap around 2 years ago so time to do that when I do the rear rebuild. Front rotors? I'm probably going to go with a $50 eBay pair for now. Summit had a nice full set of drilled, slotted, and zinc coated rotors for like $433 so just cheap for now is fine. I'll test that the bracket bolts up then put my 15" VW steelies back on to check for clearence, if it all fits fine then I'll order new backing plates, rotors, and pads. No point spending an extra ~$130 if I don't have to.

The 2-pot slider calipers are an SS-III BEAMS thing only. All the US cars had single piston calipers. The ones you linked are the ST205 GT4 calipers that are difficult to fit on non-ST205s (the ST205 hubs have a different mounting distance from the hub centerline for the caliper)

You would be third in line after nogard and Baron. I don't think you will find them easily.

You can always upgrade to the gen2 ABS front disks (with associated caliper bracket) - they are the same diameter as the BEAMS Celica ones, just thinner.

Not easy indeed, can't find them anywhere. I will just go with the 1992 Celica calipers and rotors (which are almost the same as the wagon) if I can't find the 2 pot calipers, which I doubt I will.

Or I might do what Baron is doing if I can find the calipers locally.

Got my left caliper in the mail today, and the rest of my rear bushings. I cleaned them both up and used some VHT caliper paint on them.

now I have all my parts other than new rear hub seals and rear struts.

Alright! I have confirmation and proof that the 99 calipers bolt up to the 2nd gen knuckle! I have the original rotor installed to show the size difference (plus I haven't ordered backing plates, pads or rotors yet). These BARELY clear my VW 15" steelies, so if you're looking to upgrade say goodye to your 14"!
