im planning to remove me fuel injectors and spraying carb cleaner and activating it using a battery, does the injectors have any plastic in them that could cause problems?
is this safe to do to clean them

You can do it that Ghetto but you do not have to be that cheap. Your time and frustration is entirely up to you!

Look up the kit I listed. I got mine from Amazon for $36

I have done it before with a tire valve and 9V battery but sometimes it is just worth it to invest in slightly better tools while still not breaking the bank. At $36 if you use it once you have paid for it in full. If you use it twice you are almost stealing!

the science shows the slightest bit of gummy can alter the spray pattern?

autoZone has a special BOGO on STP product, currently picked some up to add at next oil change due soon on the car

it gets diluted a bit in the tank and passthru filter, i would think a direct spray post filter would achieve better results?

Soak them in B-12 Berryman's and/or run tank of gas w/ B-12 in there to clean injectors over time. B-12 is stronger (and cheaper) than Seafoam. I use Seafoam if I also want to stabilize the gas (up to 2 years), and while I can use Seafoam to clean fuel system, I think B-12 does a better job. But I have no problem with either.

Yeah the reason is because of this:

When I drive my car I had random mis fires in cylinder 1 and 3 and now it's gone to the point where it's all 4 cylinders mis firing, I already replaced the coil pack and the spark plugs, it's annoying and the car jerks here and there but other times runs fine, any thoughts, im pretty sure it's the injectors at this point

I already replaced the intake manifold gasket with the orange gasket to fix any leaks

make sure fuel pump is working ok. I had same issue on toyta echo I have. give misfire code when gas tank less than 1/2 tank. after 7+ years ignoring it cuz I was able to just make sure keep filled, and park backwards, and live with it, until one day it got worse. Car would jerk with loss of power then be ok. Turn off car 10-20 min, restart and same thing until few miles then clear up. It was a dying fuel pump for me. So look at what effect all cylinders. U did the coil packs and plugs.Any patterns under certain conditions issue happens? you checked spark. Check air. Check fuel. Sometimes it gets harder if issue is when cold/warm, or level, sloped, etc. But hopefully be able to narrow it down.

So when it happened for me, when it got worse, it happened under acceleration and car not fully warmed up. Id gas it and the car would go, then power would cut out and I would get "thrown" forward toward dash a little. If I was really really easy on the gas I could avoid it and after 3-5 miles it went away. So you can try to replicate it under certain conditions. A fuel pressure gauge could also help. Maybe a compression check just to rule that out (?). But if its intermittent, then just hooking stuff up wont tell you. Unless your issue will be that black/white, which would be cool. With my issue, I dunno maybe electrical resistance check would have told me w/o having to reproduce it. So you could try that. Look up operating voltage/resistance pump should put out and verify with meter with pump on bench.also inspect filter, etc.

Let us know what it turned out to be. Good luck! Fuel/Air/Spark is all engine needs to work. You checked spark. If AIR/compression is ok, then it would have to be fuel. It wouldnt be timing since it works fine under different conditions. timing would be constant issues not fine hen not then other. Good luck! Curious to know.

Any of the over the counter fuel injector cleaning solutions for gas engines will work fine. I use it every 10K miles with the Prius. Gas is much much cleaner than diesel fuel and so injector problems is exceedingly rare. As mentioned there can be a varnish like build up on the injector that interferes with the spray pattern but that is easily remedied.

I did it on Highlander. It worked great the hardest part is sealing the carb cleaner tube to the injector. I used a rubber nipple on the injector and poked the tube into it. If you don't mind the work pulling the injectors, you actually see the injector spray pattern improve. Use a 9 volt battery. The injectors are 12 volt, so 9 volt is safe continuous for a few moments. Protect your eyes. Techron Injector Cleaner works really well, it may take a few repeat, but you minimize parts and labor.

You can change the screens, o-rings and nitrol/viton seal at the other end $15 each from Toyota.

I recently installed new Denso injectors. The old o-rings on the fuel rail side were still good 18 years latter. The problem was the other end the seals which are not at all o-rings on the cylinder head side. They were rock hard and starting to come apart delaminating. 2003 Camry 2AZFE.

Intake manifold gasket was rock hard but the throttle body gasket on mine was still very good.

1 packet of AutoZone dielectric grease will make things slide together like they are one part always meant to go together. A little goes a long way.

In terms of cleaner I am planning on using spray engine degreaser with a 10 to 15 minute soak time and non-chlorinated brake cleaner in a pressurized can since my $36 kit is designed to adapt the injector to a spray can and allow you to safely pulse in 4 different setting to allow you to both test on car and to clean outside of car. Then I am going to put some PAO synthetic base stock with zero additives in it to preserve it for years on the shelf. Some guys like to put a drop put atf in them prior to storage. One place uses WD40 but that has to be the worst thing you could use since it drys out fast, get's gummy and sticky real easy and does not form a real barrier against corrosion.

The screens in the top of a n end feed are made to come out but you normally do not remove the old ones until you have the unit cleaned and ready for packaging or reuse.

A brown nasty lacquer builds up inside of all injectors anyone that has ever cut one open like on an old Daimler or on an old diesel or that has bench cleaned and pop tested old injectors will have seen how nasty what comes out is and how often old injectors can be for lack of a better word refurbished some times!

The coils can burn out and the older ones could have the inner layer pit or delaminate GM had a problem with this in the 1990's as I recall. The pintel can wear out and the tiny nozzels can become so worn that the spray patter just can not be saved.

If your doing some home made thing like using a tire valve or steeped rubber hose and a battery the world is your ouster. The adapters I am using are specifically made to allow you to adapt a spray can to two different sizes of end feed injectors. If I had gone Ghetto or gone all out pressurized Mock fuel system I could have then used literally thousands of off the shelf cleaners and solvents. I think no matter what you use the trick is to make sure you rinse it all out with some sort of fast evaporating solvent. I would say avoid anything made by Seafoam you might as well use 91% Isoproply alcohol for far less.

My favorite solvent based cleaners are B12 Chemtool when I want strong and when all you want is Naptha in a spray can Walmart Brake Cleaner. Since all I need to do is clean varnish/lacquer I am going to try engine degreaser but since I have never used it for this application I can not really recommend that.

Compared to $17.99 each to send them out to be cleaned the little $36 kit I got is a steal. I know I could have coupled something together but that cheap how can you go wrong.

Be careful hooking up to a battery and continuously running the injector. That is a good way to burn the coil in the injector since it would normally have fuel running through it and it would not be running open the entire time either. It is true that OEM's usually are pulsing the injector near it's limit and build little extra margin in but they are not running them continuously for most daily driver action! Plus the circuit running the injectors is current limited and not all injectors are 12V some are driven with as little as 5V.

If your fuel injectors are indeed clogged up I recommend just replacing them. However today there are so many and effective fuel system cleaners in all gas, It is highly unlikly your injectors are gummed up.

As a mechanic, the only time I really run into clogged fuel injectors is if something sat for a very long time and they become clogged with rust.

Is there a problem you are trying to fix? This is an important question.

If you do wanna clean your injectors anyway, just soak them in sea foam. It's safe and activating them may help clean them better.
