It’s a 3 in diameter mass airflow sensor mount I bought but I used the original piping from the old intake I just took out the air filter box and put on the sensor mount and connected it to the intake
100% the issue, 3" is way too big for the stock MAF/ECU and will throw the readings way off. Proper ZZ CAIs should have the pipe neck-down where the MAF mounts to the correct pipe size (stock or close to stock), same thing occurs on the 2ZR.
You can make your own. Just measure the stock ID and find a pipe the same. Or use the stock box and cut to fit.
You just need a length of about 4-5” inches where the sensor is installed. The rest of the piping can be 3” or 2.75”. A reduction on the throttle body side. This is how the Injen is made.
If you have a 1ZZ-FE engine, they are known for leaking intake gaskets between the plenum and the engine. It is possible that while removing/installing the parts the plenum shifted and has a slight leak. Look for an oil leak by the gasket as evidence.
