Exactly sir. The very words I was going to use. The parking pawl in ATs isn't very robust and I would never want the weight of the car being restrained by that mechanism. Use the parking brake. Remember the proper way to do it is to keep your foot on the brake, put the car in neutral and engage the parking brake, then put it in park.
Same goes when you are taking it out of park. Foot on Brake, put into neutral, disengage parking brake.
