Do you, and why?

Precisely.

Anyone not using a parking brake is simply asking for trouble, and it is guaranteed to come, eventually. But hey, it's your car. Your insurance. And if the car runs over someone and kills them while unattended and you were negligent in not setting the brake, I do hope you have very deep pockets, because someone will own you.

Yes I do, especially on hills. Remember the proper way to do it is to keep your foot on the brake, put the car in neutral and engage the parking brake, then put it in park.

Same goes when you are taking it out of park. Foot on Brake, put into neutral, disengage parking brake.
Exactly sir. The very words I was going to use. The parking pawl in ATs isn't very robust and I would never want the weight of the car being restrained by that mechanism. Use the parking brake. That is why manufacturers install that feature. Regards

Yes.. except when i park in the garage (i back in)..incase it decides not to disengage. Otherwise I always use it.

I also put the car in neutral let it roll while i put the brake on.. then put it in park.

I don't when it's in the garage or on another level surface but lots of places I go I end up using it just to be safe since most parking spots etc aren't always completely level

I always use my parking brake, even at home (Driveway is very steep). I eventually got into a habit of putting on the brake. Whenever I drive a friend's vehicle or my parents, they complain when they try and drive off after I drove the car that I left the parking brake on. I have to remind them that they left it on as they should have turned the parking brake off when they put the car in drive.

Does anyone know how to adjust the parking brake cable in the Gen 6 Camry? My parking brake is no longer able to hold my car on steep hills. This started happening a couple weeks ago and I don't have time or the money to take it to the dealership and adjusting the cable is something that I have been able to do in my previous vehicles.

I always use the parking brake; it's my habit whether it's foot or hand brake or whether it's my car or others' cars. Transmission is not for holding a car.

Yeah, I've always used it. I've seen a few parking pawls break from either someone backing into it, or strong wind, or just enough of an incline. Plus when all that weight is on it, and you pull it out of park....ack that makes me cringe.
