3200 RPM for a 5 speed Toyota sounds about right. My 2000 MR2 Spyder revved at 3500 RPM 113 km/h but it had a shorter 5th gear than most Corollas. Automatics rev much lower at those speeds, but manual master race!

Do you mean that your starter sounds like it's still engaged after you let go of the key? Post a video of the sound if you can.

 

no. its not when i let go of the key. it sounds like it is still engaged while i am still holding the key. but if i release the key before then the engine doesnt start because i didnt hold it long enough to get a start. but this problem only occurs when the engine is very cold, like the car has been sitting over night.
i hope it makes sense what i have said and you can understand easily, i will take a video when i get the chance.

Not sure if this is what your talking about but the Corolla starter will remain engaged until the engine starts even if you release the key from the start position.

 

as far as rev 3k at about 100km is normal
i have gli it has rev above 3.3k at 110km/hr
although mine is 1.3l variant

for starter sound issue at cold check first that your battery is ok.
strange sound from starter also heard when battery is about to die

 

rpms are normal.. 4-bangers are meant to rev... no worries..
