***Edited post...figured out I needed a bigger hammer ***
Backstory: My oil dipstick tube snapped off at the weld/bolt like many others have experienced. I purchased the new dipstick tube (DORMAN 917399). I removed the single bolt and wire harness clip. I removed two bolts holding the alternator and moved it to the side. Note, I did not remove and electrical wires from the alternator.
I had a hell of a time pulling the dipstick tube out of the block. I was finally successful by clamping vice-grips on the tube from the underside of the car and striking the vice-grips with a brass hammer.
The flared collar indicated with the red arrow accepts the dipstick. An o-ring seals the junction. I smeared some grease on the end of the new tube and wiggled it into position. Reinstall the bolts and away we go.
