It has happened. Finally.

This Little Piggy went to dyno.

100whp @ 5200rpm
109wtq @ 3800rpm

And turned up a few skeletons along the way.

My K&N drop-in actually caused a 2hp loss.

And after all that I had done (manual swap, lightweight flywheel), it's only putting down as much power as a stock 2001 auto. :headbang:

I need a tuneup, along with a good cleaning of the air filter.

The dyno was done in 4th gear, and I watched the speedo blow way past 180 which is the highest marking. Doesn't seem like it has a speed limiter?

I had my DashDyno do its own run in parallel, but it's telling me something like 3-4x actual figure! The shop's dyno bolts to the hub and it looks like DashDyno doesn't behave well in this setup.

Did you get the car dyno'd before on the same dynometer to compare before your mods were put on?

Sounds like it was a Dynapack dyno - bolts to the wheel hubs, instead of running the car on rollers - more compact system. Also keep in mind that there is a lot of variance in readings - I've seen Dynapack put out readings that were +/- 10%-15% peak HP compared to Mustang dynos or Dynojet dynos.

Also depends on the tech running the dynometer and the condition of the dynometer itself. Most have a self-calibration test built-in, but that assumes that everything is factory fresh / factory condition.

I suppose if I'm gonna give a mod a hard time, I might want to also post something on-topic in this thread... :D

Surprised to hear about the loss with the K&N filter...

I have my own theories about lightweight flywheels; I know they make the car lighter, overall, and they're quicker to get going from a dead stop, but they don't carry inertia as well as their heavier counterparts, so the engine is gonna lose a lot more speed while shifting, and once the thing's spinning (once the engine is started) it just seems like the gains would be minimal vs a heavier flywheel. The only thing I can see it helping, honestly, is maybe putting a tiny bit less wear on your started. People swear by them, but I'd love to see a dyno run before and after swapping out just the flywheel.

Should have a speed limiter at 180kph give or take what tires are on the car throwing the speedo off a little. That number even for a 4th gear pull is interesting. If you go back do a third gear pull and go back with some more mods and a tune up :)
