I've been seeing alot of buzz lately about LED headlights on vehicles. I'm just wondering, will LED headlights (Like these https://www.ebay.com/i/332493330446?chn=ps) work with a 1997 T100? Will I have to modify any headlight plugs or will they just go right in with no issues? Any answer will be appreciated, thanks in advance!

I built my own light using a 10W cold white COB emitter thermally epoxied to some aluminum L channel and potted with E600 craft glue wired to a a mercury tilt switch and connected to an unused fuse in the underhood fuse block. With the demise of Photobucket all my pictures are gone sadly, but it lights up under the hood very well and has lasted almost 2 years without a hiccup, including Chicago winter once.

The L channel aluminum serves triple duty, as a heat sink, as a physical block to being hit with salt and water spray at the front of the car, and to block light from blasting forward when the hood is up creating glare when trying to look around under the hood. It lights the WHOLE engine bay on my Mazda 626 and out to the sides very clearly.

This is the best switchback for the money I've found however it has a flaw it is a type1 meaning it instantly alternates between white and amber. On a hunch I opened it up by removing the top section and base there were two pins on an 8-pin chip soldered together removing the solder blob turned it into a type2 switchback. Which is white ...amber ...off ...amber ...off ....white.

The white only version is extremely bright great for backup lights.

If you have T10 aka 168 backup bulbs get these

I also have a set of these good bulbs not as bright as some. The amber is less yellow than most. These are decent for the price but run at a very high temperature so longevity is suspect, the white section is more blue than I'd like.

With my 4" spots installed, everything is now as perfect as it gets on low and of course, one of my new made in C led high beam light was out during the spot test light drive last night, just as I feared might happen odd ?

My $6 4 pack of 1157 led tail light bulbs are of Zero improvement-stock brighter, while the $5 for 10 led 1156 cab light are brighter.

I got a serious question if I may return to civilization. I 'm finishing up cleaning my IAC Valve and in addition to the black gasket at the Throttle Body, there is a light gray rubber sealant residue at the other seals. Is this FIPG, and/or can I use that to take it's place ? I have some 103 Black that I used on the Valve Covers/Half Moons.

Ha Ha Long time no see, Bam. So you want me to claim the T100 is the father, and the Tundra is the son. And daring me to boot. Odd, we've never hung out, but you know I love a challenge. Those Emblems aren't cheap, so I guess I'm supposed to peel them off from the double-sided Gorilla tape. Yikes. That would be funny as hell. I wonder how long before someone notices it. I could get creative and do this......

"THAT" is hilarious, Bro.......And it continues... I ALSO just happen to have a Tundra, but it's still RED!!
I kept waiting on the T100 to fall apart, buuttt Nooooooo...

I did a full LED conversion on it before I started restoring the what I like to call.."Where the Tundra came from"

Those LED's in the bed are velcro'd to the liner of the Tonneau Top, and I can move them wherever I want.

I have the grill and Emblem (or Badge) blacked out at the moment.

Good Times

No night pictures but they work great on low beam, my pet peeve since 93 when I wasn't 66 like now with my vision problems etc. I had no problems with the oem high beams, just low. I also bought led 1157 T/B bulbs and a interior bulb and added 3M reflective tape over the side molding "chrome strips" for better side visual effects https://www.ebay.com/itm/3M-Engineer-Grade-Reflective-Pinstripe-Tape-1-4-x-25ft/172780535670?

I bought 2 sets of the led headlamps not trusting made in china junk and carry the spare with me just in case.

Great Job, 49cadde on the headlights. Remember, you're not finished until the complete conversion is done. LOL Hell, I went LED on every bulb there is, and they all made a difference. That's not counting those Fog and Reverse lights I added. The cops can see my license plates now.

You may be right about those power numbers, Bitter. If they are, then there is some Zeros missing from the price. You shouldn't compare that to REAL real things, though. Midichlorians are REAL microscopic, intelligent life forms that originated from the foundation of life. They reside within the cells of all living organisms. Have you never had your blood tested? Sure, we know you will not have many, but you must have a thousand or so. It's Ok. We know you'll come around and believe because,..well, let's face it...You HAVE to in order for society to experience and enjoy a mutual symbiotic relationship. (Footnote : In accordance with the forum rules and regulations regarding subject matter, I am having a Midichlorian Bumper Sticker made for my 1997 T100!! )

Ok, where was I...Oh..I've moved on from LED to my latest venture that turned into 3 or 4 ventures. It started with changing out my valve cover gaskets and I went overboard. Here's a Before and After of where I'm at now. I'm not completely finished but very close.

Best Improvement one can make having just installed these led bulbs https://www.ebay.com/itm/1400W-2100...M-H4-HB2-9003-6000K-White-CREE-LED-Headlight-Hi-Lo-Power-Bulbs-Kit/262604667994

and this harness kit https://www.ebay.com/itm/H4-Headlig...Headlamp-Ceramic-Relay-Wiring-Harness-Light-Bulb-Socket-Plug-Kits/283139511970? and the difference is like night and day >>>Trust Me. I've suffered @ night with the stock lamps since 1993 and for a paltry $26, it was the worth every penny as I can finally see perfectly on low beam now 3 T100s later :<)

I had a 1 volt drop between the battery and H4 plugs which the harness corrected, so the leds bulbs were even better and after adding these below the bumper Perfect :<) https://www.ebay.com/itm/4INCH-27W-...d-LED-WORK-LIGHT-BAR-Spot-Flood-OFFROAD-DRIVING-Auto-FOG-LAMP-12V/382556639782?

You will still want to be careful with the adjustment. I've had HIDs in my 2011 Camry projector units for over a year, and they work good. I installed LEDs in my 2006 Accord, and they are tricky. One side plugged in; while the other side wouldn't go completely. I had to play with them at night. I have never touched the headlight aim. I will tell you that LED unit makes it's own aim! While rotating and wiggling the led unit, I lit up a tree, followed by a shrub, followed by the streeet, followed by the shrub again. After playing with it for about 10 minutes, I think the unit isn't completely seated, but I have light on the street without lighting up the tree or shrub. Afterward, I left the headlights on and walked about 1/2 block to verify that there was no glare or misalignment. I get pis$d when somebody adjusts their headlights to where one is on the street and the other in your car window; so I insured mine wouldn't do that.

I never bought the kit. I have done the Honda headlights with toothpaste, paper towel and windex to rinse it off, probably a dozen times in the last 3 or 4 years. It looks like you can get clear lens T100 headlights on Amazon or ebay. The nice thing with composites is that all of us will have to deal with them every 5 years or so. The work truck version of Ford and Chevy are the only models where you can even find headlights instead of composites with replaceable 9007 cartridges; or in my case 9005 and 9006 cartridges.
