Noticed earlier today that the yellow lights don't flash when I lock the car. They do flash, twice, when unlocking. Any ideas on how to fix that?

I'm driving my mom's 1st gen Matrix, the lights definitely flash once when locking (twice while unlocking)

If they flash when unlocking all of the electrical connections are there. I'm tempted to say it's the ECU. There's no other pieces of the puzzle afaik... if it has a separate alarm ECU I think those typically just interface with the remote. You have any other weird stuff happening with it?

Curious to see if anyone else knows

Make sure all of the doors are shut. The system isn't able to activate if it sees any door not closed completely. This happened to me last night. My son needed the keys to the car. I was told the lights didn't flicker when he locked it. It was a door not closed completely.

I have been having the same issue with my 2016 Corolla. Have you resolved the problem? If so, may I ask the solution?

Looks like these door lock actuators are becoming bad after years of use. My key fob will not lock and unlock the passengers side. Then yesterday I could not manually unlock the door. The slide button was jammed. I've replaced the handle and lock actuator and it worked fine. Do it yourself because i'm sure it will cost an arm and a leg at the dealer. I got mine at the junkyard in good condition for 35 bucks compared to 300 and the dealer.

I solved my problem. Prius gen3 unlocking works like it should, turnin signals twice, but locking did this:

It locked twice and no turning signals. Door locked, but behaviour was weird.

Solution:

I locked all doors manually. Open door, pull locking knob near inner handle and shut door. Rear door lock just shutting door, but front door requires pulling outer handle while shutting. Now when all door were locked manually, I opened them by remote and locking works again like it should: One locking sound and turning signals once.

So if you have that kind problem lock manually. I even tried classic key to lock and unlock, but it wasn't a solution.
