Well Phi, just for you!!

My blower plans are to mount the 1MZ-FE blower for the camry/solara to my 3VZ-FE. I am looking into a few issues that might arise (They'd all go away if someone with a 1MZ-FE would come to my house for an hour!!!!) and also some computer/s-afc issues. My plan is to get my hands on a blower and spend some time with it, convince it that it wants to be installed on a 3VZ-FE. Then, when it's ready, I'll slide it onto my engine. I will need some help from two of my friends who are mechanics, but I am confident that I can make it work. I am in Mech. Eng at UW, so why shouldn't I be!! LOL, speedemn should know this characteristic ignorance!!LOL. Anyway, the blower plans hinge on finances, but I will buy a NEW blower due to the decrease in confusion. If it doesn't work, then I'll have a blower for sale. Stay tuned. This is most likely going to happen in the summer when I can walk to school and when I have some warm weather to work in.

Dickson your engine actually has the same toqrue than his if you equal all the variables. You have an auto and Darryl has a 5-spd manual.

Edit: Okay my mistake. I took a look at Henry's 1992 V6 auto graph and WOW 3VZ-FE has a hell of a lot of torque at lower RPMs!!! eg. At 2500RPM 3VZ-FE has double the torque of 1MZ-FE (150 vs 75)... DAYUM!!

I'd really like to ask Toyota what they were thinking in the process of making the new engine. Peak numbers are the same but that's a huge variance in the curves!

One possible explanation is, I think the 1MZ-FE has a new camshaft to shift the power to top end, thus giving better gas mileage for city driving

1MZ-FE is slightly higher on top end, but not by much

Although there is also quite a bit of a difference between Dickson and Ratko... odd!

I am fully aware of our cocky engineers! :wink: But this one time I am rooting for this engineer 100%. Good luck getting it done man!

 

My 94 is the first gen 1MZ-FE with the 6 coil packs, and Dickson's 96 is the second gen 1MZ-FE with the 3 coil packs with wires running to the rear bank. It it supposed to be slightly more powerful than my engine, but my dyno was before my tune up and with unbalanced tires.

I'll be back at the dyno soon to measure gains from the cat-back, and CAI.

BTW, those f***in 3VZ's are torquey as hell in the low end, especially Darryl, damn, you must have good tires to keep that thing from losing traction in first (and maybe second!)

I try to keep my tires hooked up, but launching from anything higher than about 2500rpm and they slip. Is there an LSD for the gen3? Speedemn knows that I have it figured out as far as launching a Gen3 5speed, and so does his buddy with the 5.0L@!! My blower project has been looking up in the last little while, as well as my line on Koni struts. SpectraBlueCam, I'm comin' for your "Best Suspension Setup" Title in TTCC!! My car should be the fastest Gen3 in our club very shortly, if it's not right now! Stay tuned!

As for the best suspension set up, I got that when I was the only one with a suspension done. So you are more than welcome to give me a run for the money. But you better do it quick. I've got something cooking in that department. :wink:

Definetly isn't right now and you might be pushing it in the future even with s/c. You should see Ben's beautiful dyno and track #s! :wink:

Ya your lucky to have a 5spd its much less of a paine to get up in the power zone that I want.BTW that is one nice dyno you got lots of power down low.BTW maybe you should try and get a Vortech supercharger if things dont work out with the TRD one.All you need to do is make yourself a custum braket and some custum intake tubing and your set.

 

I was thinking about that actually! Are there any particular superchargers that I could purchase that would give me the correct amount of boost (4-8psi) depending on my blow-off setup? There was one setup for the Maxima that I saw a long time ago, but I wasn't sure about whether is would work on a Gen3! Would anyone be willing to help me research this a little more indepth? The parts I would need are the following:
-Supercharger
-Custom belting (that's been done!!LOL)
-Custom intake piping
-Blow-off valve
-Frontmount Intercooler (I don't need it, but I want it)

Does that sound right to you guys??

I think you can only aftercool centrifugal superchargers, in which case you might have to get one custom made. Ive seen superchargers for the GS400 w/ front mount intercoolers, and of course Civics with the engine-mounted aftercoolers beside the throttle body.

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/ is the site for all your Vortech needs.All you need is in your list the tricky part is finding a mounting point and a way of not loosing any power to your accesories.I think for 2500$ you should have one hell of a nice system with a aftercooler and custum S/C brakets.I would recomend a VORTECH V-1 S-TRIM SUPERCHARGER wich is good to upto 20psi wich is more then enough for your Camry.As for the after cooler try and get an old smaller one from a scrap yard or off somebody who upgraded to a new one ,I think a Supra is way more the enough.

 

What I was thinking was to run the centrifugal supercharger in a location very similar to where the A/C compressor is, that way I can run the blower belt in the same belt route as the alternator. I was thinking that I could then go to a FMIC mounted just infront of my radiator, then go to my intake tube after that. Sound okay? I would have to make a custom bracket for my supercharger, and I would also have to custom-mount the FMIC, but other than that I don't see a whole lot of snags. Anyone with any practical knowledge on this subject? I checked out Vortech's website, and I see the V-1 super. Looks good to me, I'll have to see about pricing. I'll keep you all posted! Does anyone know any shops that would work with me on this project, not just do it themselves??

I lost my graph, from memory my power was about 119fwkW and torque was a bit over 300Nm but thats really not enough. I tend to disagree and I think my car lacks low end torque, first gear needs to be reved to a bit over 3000rpm to get anything decent. Sometime this year ill have custom extractors (headers) then we'll see. Fr_3_ak up in Sydney (who has exactly the same car as me) has nearly 350Nm!!! thats what im aiming for
